Question about HP Compaq Presario SR2150NX PC Desktop

1 Answer

PC Desktop I have a desktop with windows xp service pack 2 I am not sure what is wrong I had a blue screen that said Hardware Malfunction and I powered it off and restored my system to a later date as far back as I could since then it powered up once again and was fine for a couple hours I shut it down and it no longer will start up when I push the power button I can hear the fan start and it sounds like it is going to start up but it does not communicate with the keyboard or the monitor? Is my system still saveable? It is a home made computer it has a server motherboard installed with 4 GB ram (i think?) It was a really fast computer until all this happened Any advice will help Thanks Mayela

IS MY COMPUTER COMPATABLE WITH WINDOWS 7

The specifications of your computer are top of the line and can handle different applications and soft ware. Based on the hardware specs you've posted this should support Windows 7. But keep in mind that some of your hardware components may need be compatible w/ Windows 7 ( like bluetooth, camera, lan adapter, or wlan). In other words they don't have software driver that is compatible w/ Windows 7.
Also, based on Acer's support site: http://support.acer.com/acerpanam/desktop/0000/Acer/AspireM5100/AspireM5100sp2.shtml
This are the only Operating Systems that this model supports: Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2
Windows XP Home Edition with Service Pack 2
Windows Vista™ Home Premium
Windows Vista™ Home Basic

Is Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 compatible with the Dell Dimension 3000?

Installation checkup If you already have a copy of XP in your hot little hands and you're not sure yet whether your system is compatible, you'll find the XP Setup routine contains built-in compatibility checking. You can save yourself a lot of headaches if you:
  • Read the compatibility report which is generated automatically at the beginning of the installation and take note of its findings.
  • Remove any items that are likely to cause problems. If the compatibility checker finds any likely problems, uninstall or disable any incompatible software and remove any incompatible hardware (if possible) before continuing. Particular software to watch out for is CD burning software, system utilities and antivirus software. Check the manufacturers' sites for updated drivers and software and install them before trying to run XP Setup once more. And watch out for your USB hardware, as XP seems to be particularly finicky about which USB devices it will support. Once again, check the manufacturers' sites for updated drivers.
  • Abide by any warnings from Windows. I deliberately ignored XP's warning that the USB Smartcard reader I installed was likely to cause problems. The result? A blue screen of death, a series of reboots, and the forced removal of the offending Smartcard reader. (In fact, it gave me a chance to use one of XP's nifty features: Device driver rollback. Worked a treat!)

a Virus, sure, in most cases for sure.
low memory is the memory swapping out.. add more memory.
(swapping means the CPU simulates missing memory using slow HDD files) HORRID place to be, so add more memory.
power supply overload
VGA card bad, or power cords to it missing (if fitted)
to my back ground processes running , overloading the CPU and MEm.

My desktop computer restarts automatically after every 5 min or so. OS is Windows XP., PIII Processor.

If its a blue screen that appears or it does it automatic then you have either a virus or a registry error. take it to your nearest computer repair man.

How can i install windows xp sp3 in compaq presario cq60-104tu.

Ok it must be one of this problems:

1) you had vista, you wanted xp for whatever reason. you are doing a fresh install using the service pack 3 disk. there is hardware combatiblity issues and must stay with vista. this is becoming more common with the life of xp coming to an end.

2) you had xp and are reinstalling and hardware has failed.

3) you had service pack 2 or before and are updating your service pack and there is some issue with hardware or software.

IBM Blue Screen

I had the same problem with an Intellistation 6868 for years. It just wouldn't load XP but ran fine on Windows 2000 SP4. I tried 3 different XP Installation CD's with no luck. After several attempts at installing XP I bought a clean XP Upgrade from ebay.

It took me 3 goes to install it but eventually I got it in there. If you can get XP to start on the 6868 press F8 and start it in safe mode first then when it's booted fully, shut it down and and then start it clean again. It worked for me. I've been running it for 5 months now and it's fine.

I couldn't get it to work at all on the 6868's onboard IDE so I installed a PCI Raid Card and it boots fine on that.

System:
IBM 6868 52A M-Pro Intellistation
2 x Intel P3 866 CPU's 256 mb cache
2 GB ECC RD Ram
2 x Seagate 320 GB 8MB Cache HDD on a Sunix ATA133 PCI Raid Card
2 x Seagate 10000 rpm SCSI HDD on Adaptec Raid Card
ATI 9520 AGP 128mb Graphics

Help

This problem happens usually when Windows service pack 2 has a conflict with 3rd party software like T.V. Media or service pack 3 conflicts with prior installation of SP2.

If this is from SP2 Use recovery console to remove SP2

I have windows xp and i attached usb2.0 with it but my pc not detecting my usb 2.0 but when i insert the usb in my laptop the green light is on of usb.what shoud i do

Hello there.

For Windows XP, support for USB2.0 is provided in the Windows XP Service Pack 2.

You most likely do not have this installed, to check do the following: right click "My computer" on the desktop, left click "Properties", Notice underneath where it says "System:"
It should say Microsoft Windows XP, Service Pack 2.

If yours does not, then you need to update to Service Pack 2 as soon as possible, as this includes many security fixes to keep you safe online.

Please click here to upgrade to service pack 2.
