Disable Temp Alarm Kenmore Elite 19.7 cu ft chest freezer

How do I disable the temperature alarm in this chest freezer? I am utilizing it to hold roses in with a Ranco temperature control. It shuts the freezer off at 34 degrees, and then it kicks on at 36 degrees to keep the temperature in this 3 degree range. But when the freezer is turned off when it gets cool enough, a temperature alarm comes on from the battery backup. This specific freezer goes on if the temperature rises above 23 degrees to let you know food stored in the freezer is in jeopardy. How do I disable the temperature alarm?

SOURCE: Kenmore 14.8 cft - temperature between 5 and -22 degrees (-15 and -30 C)

Big...this is likely normal. I'm not sure where you're measuring that temp from. If it is the fan outlet, this is possible. The fact that the unit is staying below 5 degrees means that it is within spec. You do have a warranty. Ask Sears to come on in and check it out.

Your 'duty cycle'...that amount of time that the compressor is on should be about 20% of a unit of time...say 25 minutes out of 2 hours. Is that about right? If so, enjoy your ice cream.

unplug the power line to the alarm. The freezer will still work and tape off the wire.

SOURCE: Temp display reads 92 (hi temp) but the interior temp is 0.

No. Sounds like the intern temp sensor is bad, missing, or not connected. 92 is probably the max reading it can display. The unit will probably operate continuously, be much to cold, and cost a ton to operate. I assume you bought this from Sears. Call them to replace the freezer. Should be no problem.

The high temp light is on. What can I do to reset it? Everything seems frozen and fine in the frezzer

HIGH-TEMP ALARM SWITCH (SOME MODELS)
An audible
alarm will sound if the freezer temperature reaches
unsafe levels. The alarm operates on household electricity. If
the power
fails, the alarm will not perform.
An ON/OFF switch
allows the high temperature alarm to be
deactivated if desired. NOTE: You must open the
freezer door to
view the alarm switch. The
freezer is shipped with the switch in
the OFF position.
After the freezer has run longenough to
lower the temperature, you
may set the switch to the ON
position.
To activate the alarm, set the switch
to the ON position.
To deactivate the alarm, set the switch to the OFF position

i got this from the freezer manual from Kenmore hope this was helpful

The temp alarm keeps sounding,I turn it off and in about 12 hrs it alarms again. The food is frozen and inside still cold

It sounds like the sensor has gone bad. You can either replace it or disable it. Of course if you disable it, obviously you lose that feature. If you want to replace it, you can get the part at kenmore.com or possible W.W. Grainger or APCO.

Its keeps peeping

Hello twins49
Welcome to Fixya,

You said, your Frigidaire freezer 17 cu. ft. , it keeps buzzing or peeping
The alarm may be malfunctioning or it may be warning you of low temperature.
You can go to any hard ware store and buy a refrigerator thermometer and ask them if it can go into a freezer too!It can, But ask anyway!

If it is cold enough then it is a faulty alarm going off.

Your freezer may be equipped with an alarm.
Here is some information that may help you find it and turn it off if you wish

Temp Alarm (audible only or audible with warning light)

This feature is designed to provide a warning of possible malfunction. If the
temperature of the food rises to a level unsafe for long-term storage, the buzzer will
sound. The red light will also glow on models so equipped. The Temp Alarm feature
operates on household electricity. If power fails, the alarm will not perform. An ON/
OFF switch allows you to deactivate the Temp Alarm when not wanted. The freezer
is shipped with Temp Alarm in the OFF position. After freezer has run approximately
4 hours, the red light, if equipped, will go off. Then you may activate the Temp Alarm
without the alarm sounding.
Press the ON switch to activate the Temp Alarm. To deactivate, press the OFF switch.
If the alarm sounds, be sure freezer is properly leveled, and the door closes freely, and
seals properly. If you suspect a technical malfunction, call an authorized servicer
immediately.

Let me no what you find.
