Question about Refrigerators
Kelvinator no frost 355 fridge/freezer does not freeze too well nor cool either although it will freeze vegetables. The freezer at the top has a small amount of accumulated frost on the sides and a frozen ice puddle on the bottom but most noticeably the lower outer ledge of the freezer door opening between the fridge and freezer is very hot to touch. This heat transfer might explain why the freezer is not so cold.
Can you please suggest how to remedy the hot spot?
It is a very old fridge which still runs and has shifted house a few times in its life. It doesn't make abnormal noises nor is it overly full or airflow around the outside of the fridge restricted. I haven't checked or cleaned anything yet coz i'm not sure where to start. Are there drain holes inside the freezer that maybe blocked. The thermostat will still regulate the temp.

yes the evap fan in the frezer should be running when the compressor is running[it may not for a minute or so as it starts up.Amana's are good for the connectors at the evap fan motor comming apart.the connectors are white and will look like its together but when you pull it will come apart.i would always cut the connector out and use a wire nut so wont happen again.if any other questions please email thru FixYa and i will be glad to help. God bless ,tom

Hi, Are you getting ice build up in the freezer side as well? There is a air shuttle between the fresh food side and the freezer side. thwater might be getting in the freshfood side from there. Look at the bottom rear panel in the freezer for ice build up. Ig=f there is ice, you will need to get to the drain from inside the freezer and check for blockage.
Please let me know if I can help you further.

This is caused by a clogged drain tube or the door is not closing correctly. Be sure the seal around the fridge door is closing correctly. If not, the drain tube needs to be replaced or cleaned.
