Hi there, i understand that your having trouble finding the driver for your pixus mp 500.. just to let you know something pixus and pixma are the same, because in japan they are calling the pixma as a pixus for them to say it in an easier way. now here's the link on where you will be getting the driver for your printer... http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_mp_series/pixma_mp500#DriversAndSoftware
hope that it will help you a lot to install your printer to your computer..Good Luck!
There are several reasons to get this 5010 error in your printer but the most common one will be you would have caused this after pulling the printer to bits to fix a blockage. You can fix this issue by inserting the ribbon cables from the scanner into the circuit board properly.
That is a purge system error, either you need a new purge assembly or there is a paper scrap caught in there stopping it. The purge unit is on the right where the printhead parks at shutdown and where the printhead is cleaned.
5010 is a scanner error, where the scanner either cannot find home position, or is not warmed up completely. Only cure is to replace the entire scanner assembly, if it's less than a year old it can be done under warranty, otherwise around $150 to $180.00
Yes, same thing happens to me...Error code 5010...and flashing green and orange...alternating lights. I was trying to photocopy (in basic black, not colour). I had a few pages to copy. I got this 5010 Error code after EACH copy! I had to turn off the printer after each copy and then turn it back on for the next copy. That's not the worse of it.....once I turned the printer back on and hit copy again...the printer took a VERY long time to scan the item for the next copy. It took me a good 40 minutes to copy 15 pages. Sooooo irritating!!!!!
Anyone know what to do?
I've also had the paper jam on me tons of times. I am really disappointed with this product. I would not recommend this printer to anyone!
Hi Jakabi. That error code means there's a defective module in the printer. It's not user replaceable, unfortunately. The only solution is to contact the store where you bought it, or Canon's tech support to get a replacement.
That comes directly from Canon support ! I know it isn't what you'd like to hear, but unfortunately it's the only way out of it.
Thanks ! cheebster.
