When windows starts again you probably get a question about how you will boot. Just select start windows normaly.

Thats it.

Laptop gets stuck welcome screen when

It sounds to me like a file is corrupt and there is a number of reasons for that. If you press F8 just before it tries to boot, you will have access to a menu. Try running safe mode to see where the issue is.

To run Toshiba Recovery:
Choose the Repair Menu in the Windows boot menu (Press and hold F8 at the Toshiba SplashScreen.
Or
Hold the Zero key during Power Up.
If that doesn't work, you may need to order a Recovery Disc from Toshiba.

I need to findout if there is a link to to restore my laptop without a recovery disk because i didnt get one when i bought it

Start the computer in safe mode and run System Restore:
Click the Start button Picture of the Start button, click the arrow next to Shut Down, and then click Restart.
Do one of the following:

If your computer has a single operating system installed, press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts.

You must press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then shutting down and restarting your computer.

If your computer has more than one operating system, use the arrow keys to highlight the operating system you want to start in safe mode, and then press F8.

On the Advanced Boot Options screen, use the arrow keys to highlight Safe Mode, and then press Enter.

Log on to your computer with a user account that has administrator rights. When your computer is in safe mode, you'll see the words Safe Mode in the corners of your monitor.
Click the Start button Picture of the Start button, type "system restore" in the search box, click System Restore, and then click Next. Administrator permission required If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Choose a restore point when your PC worked as expected, click Next, and then click Finish.

Use system utility software like RegInOut after restarting windows normally. It will repair corrupt registry and windows files.

Toshiba satellite L300 black screen. Tried the 0 key and it only goes 1/3. thinking booing/registry corrupt. No recovery disk or software came with my laptop. O/S is Vista I have data and photos that...

Yes everything will be wiped out, once you do the recovery. It will reinstall the factory settings.
You may try this first; Turn OFF the laptop, remove the power sources (ac adapter and battery). Without power sources, hold power button 10 secs. Put back the power sources, then try to boot from safemode. Tap F8 upon booting up to enter the advance boot option. Select safe mode, save your files once loaded in safe mode. You may first try the system restore from , go to start/all programs/accessories/system tools/system restore, select the previous date the laptop was working fine. If this will not work then the last resolution is the recovery.

Hope this helps.

My laptop has power but will not boot up. Just

Try start up in Safe Mode press F8. Choose Safe Mode, when at the choice window, to select either Safe Mode Desktop, OR System Restore, chooses system restore and choose a time before you had the "Problem" and follow instructions. if that doesn't work, you should try a Factory restore, Toshiba laptops from mid 2007 onwards dont have a recovery disc suppliedwith a purchase of a laptop. Instead, Toshiba has added a hidden partion on the hard drive which contains the same files on a recovery cd / dvd.

To reinstall your laptop to the factory settings / "out of the box" settings, please follow these steps. It worked for me, and should work for you.

ALL DATA WILL BE ERASED ON YOUR HARD DRIVE IF YOU PROCEED. YOU WILL NEED TO ENSURE THAT YOU HAVE THE POWER ADAPTER PLUGGED IN. DO NOT SWITCH OFF OR RESTART YOUR COMPUTER DURING THIS PROCESS.

1) Hold down the power button for 10 (ten) seconds to switch off your machine.

Please note: Holding down the power button on the machine forces it to switch off. Any unsaved data will be lost.

2) Press and hold the 0 (zero) key and at the same time, tap the power button once to switch on your notebook.

3) When the machine Starts beeping; release the 0 key.

4) When prompted by the warning screen; select Yes to continue with the system recovery.

This should get you back. If not, then you are going to need to get a Windows install DVD, boot of that and reinstall the whole system

EToshiba Satellite A100-S8111TD - Laptop do not finish boot on startup

Upon powering on, press the F8 button to load other options, choose safe mode only and hit enter.

If you were able boot windows under safe mode, you can try to do system restore or uninstall any program you've recently installed which cased the problem.

If you were NOT able to boot to safe mode, you need to do full system recovery and re install the OS. Insert the recovery disc and press F12 upon powering on to load boot menu then choose CD/DVD rom.

Hope this helps,

Problem with Toshiba Laptop U

this is clearly a no boot issue. you can actually do a power cycle first. remove the battery and unplug the ac adapter. press and hold the power button on the computer for 10 secs to drain all power inside the computer. turn on the computer. if it still freezes, tried to boot to safe mode. as soon as you see the Toshiba logo on the screen, start tapping on the F8 button as quick as you can to access Windows Advanced Boot Options. then choose safe mode only. if it doesn't solve the problem then most likely, your Windows XP is already corrupted. try to do system recovery. please be reminded that you will lose all data if you run the recovery.

i hope this helps.

Safe mode

safe mode will not reset your password..if you do need to get into safe mode just boot your nb up and continously tap F8 on start up, this will take you to safe mode!!!!!!however when your done here and need to reset your password you will most likely have to run a system recovery-usually this is the only way...reminder if you do run the recovery you will reset your system to factory settings and lose any unsaved data
