SOURCE: no propane comes thourgh pilot on mr buddy heater

If the pilot will not light get a q-tip and alcohol and remove the wire grill and be sure the cotton doesn't come off the end of the stick wet the cotton with the alcohol and twist it and push it down into the pilot tube 2 full inches. Let the alcohol soak for 30 seconds and while twisting pull the q-tip out. Try this until the pilot lights.

When mr heater portable buddy is on for about 30minuts control valve sticks on high and even on low when heater cools moves it moves freely

The solution is to contact Mr. Heater tech support. Once I made contact with them they took my complain very seriously and wanted immediately to inspect my unit. They issued a FedEx Pickup request to take my unit back to Ohio. They're sending me a replacement unit which they promised to test before send it it me.

I did some research on these units-- I pass them on to you-- Do these help?

your Mr. Heater the model that uses two small one pound cylinders or you have the choice to hook it up to a single larger tank? if so, you must use the special filter connected to the Mr. Heater and then your hose to tank.
This happened to me and after I hooked up the filter my problem was fixed.

large and sealed of an area are you using it in? I ask because those units have a low oxygen sensor which will shut it down if there is not enough oxygen in the space.(kinda prevents that pesky suffocation thing). Otherwise if using it in larger cold spaces, the issue is can be from the smaller tanks. As mentioned above, a larger tank can solve this, because these units have a fairly good input rate, which will cause the smaller tanks to freeze, and lower the propane temperature and evaporation rate, basically runs out of gas until the tank warms back up.
just one new cylinder, it will run on just one, to verify a problem with the cylinders. Also it could be the pilot light, sit and watch the pilot light to see if it goes out for some reason. If it does the heater will shutdown automatically, but you already know that.

Let us know if we can help further?

Big Buddy heater shuts down after a short time while on Hi. There is plenty of ventilation. It will do this even if sitting on the picnic table in the yard. Any suggestions? Have used single, double and...

Well, this happened to my son during the winter of 09 with my Buddy Heater, my heater sat around for months on my shelf hopefully ready to use, and the heater was not used in excess as it was. My son about froze off his body parts trying to camp last year, turns out a recomendation on a web site to use a Qtip Swab dipped in rubbing alcohol swabing inside the pilot orfice tube did the trick. Seems the sensor in the pilot tube area collects dust or some webs and this affects the sensor. I thought it was lack of oxygen when he called me with trouble but he already provided plenty of air for cumbustion saftey, but still the heater would run for short time then make a click/dink sound from unit and shut down. Anyway, tried it when he got back with it and sure enough, click/dink sound in a short time and off the heater went. After discovering this suggestion online it was the right answer because it has worked perfectly ever since, in fact heater was just used recently the weekend of March 20th-21rst 2010 up north here in Michigan. When they sit like mine did the pilot orfice tube collects dust that affects the low Ox sensor. By the way, before he took it recently I simply took canned air as a precaution and blew it out, at the very least this is going to be my standard maintance procedure with it EVERY TIME before it's off to a camping trip.
