Question about Televison & Video
Goes to stand by after 30 sec. Still have sound no picture
OLD set, most likely the picture tube has aged and only hope would be if the master screen inside the set is turned up just a little it may function again. If doing that (taking back off) be careful and also look in neck of the picture tube to see if the 3 filaments are faintly lit.
Only chances are no filaments or screen set too low from old age.

Most likely there are some parts that have become thermo sensitive with age. Many times electrolytic capacitors become thermo sensitive as they ware down.
The parts that are going out of spec are probably causing some kind of fault that the set's uPC sees as a fault and puts the set in to protection.
The service tech will use a heat gun and liquid air also known as "freeze spray" to cool and heat the suspect components to trigger the fault, and then reverse it. Once the parts are found, they can be changed.

The issue may be related to the projection lamp in the TV and replacement may be required. However, before replacing the projection lamp in the TV, you may perform the troubleshooting steps mentioned below.
Please disconnect all the cables from the TV including the power cable then reconnect them after two minutes. Please make sure that the the power cable from the TV is directly connected to a functional wall outlet. Next, you may try connecting any other video source such as cable box, DVD player, Blu-Ray player, Playstation, etc. If the issue persists then try resetting the TV to the original factory settings.
Please follow the steps mentioned below to reset the TV to the original factory settings:
(i) Turn the TV ON.
(ii) Press and hold the Reset button on the Remote Control supplied with the TV, then press the Power button on the front panel of the TV.
(iii) Next, release the Power button. The TV will turn itself off, then back ON.
(iv) Release the Reset button.
If the issue persists then you may replace the projection lamp in the TV.
