SOURCE: acer aspire 6920 back to factory settings

Acer sent me these instructions.

The other way before Vista starts up is to tap ALT + F10 (at the same time repeatedly) when the computer is first switched on.. The window of opportunity is very small, so this may take a few attempts

Once you have tapped both the ALT and F10 repeatedly, you may see a screen showing:

“Edit Boot options for Microsoft Windows Vista”

If you see this, unfortunately, you have missed the window of opportunity, and you need to restart, and try again.

If you see this:
“Edit Boot options for Windows Setup” OR “Edit Boot options for Acer eRecovery”

Then it indicates that you have tapped the ALT + F10 correctly, and all you now need to do is press “Enter” and the Recovery program should load on your screen after a short pause..

In some cases, you may need to remove the battery (for notebooks only) and run the machine directly from the mains.

The Disk2Disk recovery feature allows you to recover the system without recovery CDs.

This will return your system to factory settings and will delete everything stored on the machine.
If possible we strongly advise backing up anything important on your machine before starting the recovery process.

Try booting, and when you see the Acer logo, press "Alt" & "F10" keys simultaneously to bring up the Recovery Menu. Follow the prompts to restore the Aspire One to factory default settings. Post back with how that works out.

Restore factory default

Switch the laptop on and press the 'Alt' and F10 buttons at the same time while the Acer logo screen is visible. This should take to a menu screen where you can select a recovery to the factory default. This will delete all files and restore the operating system to the state it was when you bought it.

F10+alt don't work to reset acer aspire one to factory setting. what else can i do

Hi twillis84.
You will need to start your computer in the "Safe Mode", you do this by tapping F8 while the computer is starting up.
Once the computer has started, select "Safe Mode" you have two choices.
I would try "A" first.
A...You can do a System Restore from here.
You will click "Start">All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore, this will restore your system to an earlier time when it was operating properly.
B...Once you are in the safe mode, then you will double left click on "Start">Control Panel>User Accounts>Change an Account.
Now you can change your password, delete the account, etc.

Driver restore/applications Acer---using eRecovery
Drivers for Acer products may be found on the Acer Product Support. Search for the product and download the drivers.
Alternatively, the factory installed drivers and applications can be re-installed by using Acer eRecovery by following these steps:

2.Click Acer, and then Acer eRecovery Management
3.You may be prompted to enter or create a password. This password will be required to use eRecovery in the future.
4.In the next window on the left toolbar, select Restore.
5.Choose Reinstall Drivers or Applications
6.Choose Contents
7.Choose the driver or application you wish to install
8.On the right, click the Install link and follow the prompts.
9.The computer may restart when installation is complete. If it does not restart, manually shutdown and restart the computer.
Note: For older Acer products, the Acer eRecovery Management program may not be available.
If you do not have a set of Acer Recovery Media, they may be purchased from the Acer Recovery Media Order Form.

Hello how do i restore my acer aspire 5332 laptop to factory settings

Unlike other laptops, Acer laptops integrate a computer management utility called 'Acer eRecovery Management' to create backup of hard drive data, create restore point, reinstall applications & drivers, and reset Acer laptop to factory setting.

Step 1: Before starting your Acer laptop, ensure that there is no external storage device attached to it. Now start your laptop.

Step 2: Press 'Alt + F10' when the laptop starts booting, and wait for a moment while Windows loads the reset files.

Step 3: When 'Acer eRecovery Management' window appears, select 'Restore System from factory default' and click 'Next' to continue.

Step 4: Again click 'Next' to reset your Acer laptop. This process will erase all data from your hard disk and reset your Acer laptop to original factory settings.

Step 5: Click 'OK' in the notification window to begin the the resetting operation. Now wait while your Acer laptop is reset to factory settings.

Tips: You can also create a backup copy of your laptop data before factory reset. Simply click 'Backup' in 'Acer eRecovery Management' window.

Turns on but says system not found

Try start up in Safe Mode press F8. Choose Safe Mode, when at the choice window, to select either Safe Mode Desktop, OR System Restore, chooses system restore and choose a time before you had the "Problem" and follow instructions. This should get you back. If that doesn't work try running the factory restore if any... else you will have to reinstall your operating system from the Windows Install DVD.
