Hi
Sounds like you have dirt/debris in your caburetor jets, fuel passages or a diaphgram that is becoming non-flexible.
Check/Clean/Replace your Air Filter, a dirty air filter can make your engine run to rich with fuel.
Note: ALWAYS USE COMPRESSED AIR TO CLEAN YOUR JETS AND PASSAGES, VERY IMPORTANT.
Note:Before you disassemble the carburetor:
Write down on a piece of paper and or take a picture of how the linkage attaches to your carburetor for later reference when you go to reinstall your carburetor.
Mark each piece with a awl, or some kind of sharp instrument that will make an alignment scratch before you disassemble the carburetor into separate pieces.
That way you will know which way it goes back together when you reassemble it.
Sometimes you can get by with priming the carburetor or by using a very small shot of starting fluid and letting it run a few times like that, and it will flush the gunk out of the jets, but most of the time you will need to rebuild the carburetor.
Be sure to check your fuel tank for water and dirt/debris, if there is water/debris then you need to clean your tank.
Check you fuel line/s condition...after a while they will degrade and need replacement.
Check/Clean/Replace your fuel filter if you have one.
When you remove your fuel lines from the carburetor be sure to make a drawing or take a picture of how the lines are connected to the carburetor.
Also a good time to take a picture for later reference for reassembly.
If the mower is over a couple of years old, then I recommend that you buy and install a new carburetor repair kit, because the diaphragm will get hard and that will cause it to be hard to crank.
The diaphgram may look good and flexible, but it can be deceiving and not act as a fuel pump as it should because it has become too hard and will cause hard starting, start and run and shut off, etc.
When you clean your carburetor, I recommend that you use a laquer thinner type cleaner to clean and dissolve the laquer build-up in the float and needle jet passages.
Be sure to remove all plastic and rubber parts before using the laquer thinner because it can dissolve the plastic parts and render them unuseable.
Be sure to use COMPRESSED AIR to blow out all the fuel and air passages. The higher air pressure is needed to blow some of the trash/debris from the fuel or air passages.
Be careful when blowing out the passages, because there are sometimes small rubber type seats in the bottom of some of the passages.
Keep in mind that the float (if you have one) for the carburetor must be level when you go to reassemble the carburetor or follow the instructions you get with the carburetor kit, or you could also ask the parts man that you get your kit from.
When you clean your carburetor and remove the jet screws, you will first need to lightly seat the jet screws.
But before you lightly seat the jet screws count the number of turns it takes to seat the jet screws from their original position.
Be sure to mark the turns down on a piece of paper.
That way when you put the jets back in, you know to lightly seat them first and then turn them back out to their original position before you started.
Once you have your carburetor cleaned/rebuilt that should solve your problem.

When I plug the monitor it won't stay on. Why?

1. CRT or LCD?
2. Do you have an image of any kind for that 45 sec.?
When it drops out after 45 sec, do you have any strange behavior as you look at the screen (colors, blinking, lines, squiggles, noises, smells)?
3. When failing, does the power drop out (ON light goes OFF)?
How long do you need to wait until you can turn it ON again?
4. What is the status of your screen saver/power saver? 45 sec seems pretty short but it's still possible.
5. What does the manufacturer's website have to say about this problem? What do other users have to say when you search for your model?

I know these are just more questions but your question is too generic to offer specific comments that might be more useful.

Crafsman 2400 watt generator star ok but only run for 45 sec.& it won't star again the motor is a briggs & stratton 5.0hp

I have a Craftsman Snow Blower with a Briggs & Stratton Engine. I had the same problem. I searched online and read a little bit about this run and stop problem. One solution was to put something over a piece of metal that separates the hot engine part from the other part of the other side of the engine. I used a piece of heat resistant cloth from Lowes in the plumping area where the torches are. It fit and worked. Engine keeps running. I ran it for over an hour last spring prior to storing it.

I can start the tractor but the engine speed fluxuates and will stop at a low idle

    • Here's what I did. There's no air fins around the fly wheel to act as a governor. The governor is preset from Craftman/mfg. If it is moving back and forth at a idle, and is less noticeable when the blades are engaged, try the following. Clean all the debris from the outside of the carburetor before you remove it. I used gas as a solvent and an old tooth brush. Do this before disassembling the carb from the intake. Go to Auto-zone )or similar store and buy a bottle of STP carb cleaner (not injector cleaner). Pour a bottle of STP carb cleaner in a small bowl and soaked the carburetor and the gas shutdown module (don't know if that's what it's called) on the bottom of the bowl of the carb.(if equipped) When I put everything back together, it continued to cycle/ / fluctuated for about 45 sec/1min and leveled off on it's own. Now she's purring like a kitten and has more power than it has in years... Turn the idle mixture (should have a limiter cap) fully clockwise, then back it off 1/4 turn. Let run a bit to clear out gas and carb cleaner left in carb. If you've moved the idle pin, you may have to re-adjust. Book says at slow idle, should run 1750 rpm without spitting or backfiring when you turn off the ignition (how to tell the RPM I don't know, so went by ear of how it use to idle on slow). Test Throttle. Let cool down, start again in choke setting, throttle back to slow. Re-adjust idle pin again. There's a separate way to adjust the throttle cable, but is set at the factory and usually doesn't require adjustment. That you can find under "specifications" in your owners manual. After exhausting all other possibilities, I did this and purred like a kitten. Best it's run in years and gave back power lost over time.
    • Oh, one more thing. There's a warning in the owners manual to NOT add Carburetor cleaners directly in the gas tank (other than fuel stabilizer). Warning says could cause damage to the tank, so use on the disassemble carburetor only. Good luck, hope it works.. did for me.

the problem is with the carb. not able to keep enough fuel going into the float bowl to support engine staying running. could be hose off gas tank clogged or petcock, coud be main jet sticking closed or float level out of adjsutment.

I have a 2005 Yamaha V-Star Classic and has only a little over 1,000 miles on it. Is there an easy way to clean the carbs while still on the bike. Bike not runing and have to open chocke to keep runing....

Yes, you need to run some fuel carb cleaner in the fuel.
Not sure where you are but in the US its called seafoam, or in Europe forte cleaner, make sure its one for petrol.
Make sure your fuel filter is replaced as well just in case there is rubbish in there.

remove the gas can carefully the pulsa primer carburetor sits on top. Once you remove the tank open the cap and pour out the gas. THen carefully unscrew the five screws holding the carb on. Carefully lift the carb up leaving the gasket in place and clean the small 4 chambered bowl with starter fliud. Replace all parts put gas in it, push the primer until you see gas squirt into carb then pull the handle.

Sounds like fuel starvation. there is a small filter insde the tank. if you take the tank off you will see that where the fuel hose attaches to the tank. this spigot unscrews from the take to reveil the filter.
Hope This helps
