Question about Computers & Internet

Open Question

I have just worked on a Dell Inspiron 1 desktop P.C and left totally befuddled , these were the problems presented: 1: MySyncUp continually "stopped working" every time I opened a picture forcing the whole gallery to close . 2: As I had decided to reinstall MySyncUp I proceeded to the Internet explorer and downloaded it from the official Dell website here my problem arose. It seems that the download arrived but something was stopping it from initiating and the install couldn't start. I tried every connotation of AntiVirus on/off, different downloads (google chrome being 1 and even that was a no go) and adjusting internet settings all to no avail. I then uninstalled MySyncUp and rebooted only to find that the problem with the photos had gone but another popped up : I had to select an application to view the .jpg files, I selected the Microsoft picture viewer and set it as default but windows seems to forget that I've set it and I have to select it every time. if anyone can help me to understand why this happens I'd be extremely grateful. as an after thought the OS is win7 64 running 4 gb ram and the router and connections are fine .

SOURCE: "Internet Explorer has has stopped working..."

After installing IE8 on vista I kept getting msg Internet Explorer has stopped working - continually looping thru this message.

Solution for me was.
End IE with task manager - needed to do a couple of times.
Then from control panel -> programs -> manage addons I disabled all add ons and then IE started OK. Then by process of elimination stated enabling add on until failed again.

In my case it was the skype addon that was causing IE to fail. Leaving it disabled has allowed IE8 to function.

Inspiron 1010 sound not working

When I go to Dell Support, and try to pull up Inspiron 1010, I get Inspiron Mini 10,

http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/Product/inspiron-mini10

Scroll down, click on the Blue down arrow to the left of -
Audio (1)
Now left-click on the blue -> Realtek-Driver

To the right of Version: click on the blue -
Download File

On the next page make sure there is a Green dot, in the small circle to the left of - Single-file download.
If not left-click in the empty circle to the left of - Single-file download
Click on Continue in the blue oval.

A small window will come up on the right -
Opening R215165.EXE
Click on Save File

A small window will come up on the left. Allow the file to fully download, then DOUBLE-click on it. Follow the easy instructions.

When you are finished close all windows, go back to your desktop screen, and restart your computer, IF you are not asked to do so.

Don't forget about the Volume icon in the system tray. Audio needs to be Enabled, and Volume needs to be up to where you desire.

For either one left-click on Computer Cover, in the list.

Note*
1) Power unplugged from computer
2) Observe Anti-Static Precautions

Anti-Static Precautions:

Your body carries Static electricity. Static WILL fry out (Short Circuit) the delicate hardware components inside a computer.
Relieve your body of Static BEFORE reaching inside the computer.

Computer on a table, computer unplugged from power, computer case open.
TOUCH an unpainted surface, of the metal frame of the open computer case.

IF you leave your computer in the middle of working on it, be SURE to Touch the metal frame again upon your return.

Inspiron 1520-before finishes loading desktop screen goes black..

if it works fine in safe mode you should try a system restore . most of the time a problem that gos away in safe mode is driver related . IE software don't think you have a hard ware issue. you can call dell if you do not have the disk . 1-866-751-6079 call this number it's dell's Spanish tech support number but this is the fastest way to reach a real person at dell . just ask them to speak English and they will.

Booting with External DVD for Dell Inspiron 1525

Power on your system, Press F2 on Dell logo. This would take you to system BIOS. Ensure that USB controller is ON, and USB emulation is also set to ON. Save settings and Exit. System would reboot now. Press F12 on Dell logo, and select USB ROM as the boot device. This should boot your computer through your External drive. If it still doesnt work, try switching to a different USB port. If none of these steps work, it may be a problem with the boot sector on your External drive.

Good Luck!

The computer will not boot up when power button is pressed. Computer beeps three times, then repeats. Monitor is on but remains black.

This will be a memory / ram problem. If you have more than 1 module installed first try switching another module to the first bank if still not working try 1 module at a time until you find the defective one. Memory is pretty cheap nowdays or you may find you didnt really need the total amount of memory installed. Hope this helps........from Scott
