Take batteries out and leave for a couple of hours. Then put fresh batteries in. If you can access the menu screen- look for reset or factory settings.. If this does not fix it- go to the Samsung website - Tech support or if the camera is recent -take it back to the store. Also take a look at http://www.fixya.com/support/p240626-samsung_digimax_4010_digital_camera/solutions

Shutter over lens stuck open

If your lens comes out and retracs during power on or off then the spring that closes the lens is either broken or off trac. If you are out of warranty and able to open the case then it should be an easy fix. If not then you would have to get it repaired.

Samsung Website Tech help intitally. If under warranty take it back. You could take the batteries out and leavie it overnight. It may reset.

Canon A520 Everything works, except the button you take pictures with. It wont work.

I need more information about what symptoms you are experiencing. I am going to guess that your shutter is stuck closed. This would cause a blank image to show on the view screen and your captured pictures. The regular icons and text would still display normally. Is this what you are seeing? If not please explain further what is happening and I will respond again with more information. David Millier Advance Camera Repair

Sony Cyber-shot Digicams

The Sony P72 should produce excellent photos. You stated that you had just purchased the camera which may be a clue to the problem. With a film camera, you push the shutter button and bang you have a picture. With a digital camera you push the shutter button and about 1.5 seconds later the focus locks and then 0.2 seconds still later the picture is captured. Since you are not accustomed to that shutter delay, you are probably moving the camera. Most digital cameras will let you push the shutter button down half-way to achieve focus lock. Then press the button the rest of the way down to take the photo (remembering there is a 0.2 second delay). When you plan to snap that picture, be prepared to be perfectly still for 3 to 4 seconds. Try taking some pictures with your camera sitting on something solid (or a tripod) and see if the photo quality doesn't improve. There is a good 9 page review of the P72 camera at: http://www.steves-digicams.com/2003_reviews/p72.html One of the pages contains sample photos. Select one of the photos and click on it. When the photo finishes loading (large file), then RIGHT click on the photo and click "Save photo as". Save it to your hard drive. Print that photo on your printer. That will give you the chance to see how a known good photo, will print on your printer.

Shutter lag

I don't know what your measurement conditions were, but there's no way the shutter lag after focus is 1/2 second. I don't have a quantitative number at my finger tips, but it surely falls into the "instantaneous" category, as far as I can tell. I've taken plenty of action shots and candids, including shots of flying birds, that will back that up
