How do you attach the needle clamp thread guide

I bought a second hand Futura XL400. The thread guide next to the needle clamp was missing. I got a new thread guide and I need to know how I can attach it by myself.

Possibly lever is to keep bobbin in place? If so, should slide left/right over top of bobbin.

SOURCE: "thread breakage detected"

I had the same problem and one day my 9 year old said Mommy the thread is winding and cathing. I noticed that if the thread is not close to the silver metal arm it coils and makes a knot around the silver feed arm and also sometimes it cathces the little white plastic peace where the silver feed arm is connected to the machine.

SOURCE: bobbin thread won't catch with needle thread

check that the needle is in the right way round i.e. with cut out on the needle facing into the machine. if this is fine then check that as the needle comes back up from the lowest point that it goes to, that the point on the bobbin case passes just above the hole in the needle, i.e. in the middle of the cut out.(if not it needs re timing) if threaded a small loop should appear at this point for the bottom bobbin to catch if not slacken the top thread and try again.

SOURCE: Timing Problem with Singer Futura 150

I think singertexas.com has a manual that can help with this do it yourself repair. Though doing this can void your warranty.

How to thread on a singer 4411. Thank you

To thread the upper thread, make sure that the needle bar is fully up, using the hand wheel. Put the thread spool on the spool pin and secure it with the spool holder. Use the end of the spool holder that is closest to the spool size. Bring the thread through first guide to the left of the spool holder. Slide it past and behind the guide before pulling it into the guide. Then bring the thread to the pre-tension spring. Similarly, the thread goes behind the spring and then comes forward. Next bring the thread down through the channel and up through the adjacent one further to the left. It helps to hold the thread between the spool and the thread guide. Once you bring the thread up through the second channel bring it from right to left through the slotted eye of the take-up lever. Bring the thread down and through the horizontal thread guide, the thin guide clamp needle and to the needle. Thread the needle from front to back.

The manuals for most Singer sewing machines are available from the manufacturer's site: http://www.singerco.com/support/instruction-manuals . The direct link to the manual for the 4411 is http://www.singerco.com/uploads/download/1230_4411_heavy_duty_esf.pdf . See page page 16 (page 23 of the PDF) for pictures of the guides.

I hope this helps.

I have a singer futura XL580 and the thread guide either flew off or broke off. I thought I bought the right replacement part no. 086046 but can not seem to figure it out

That is because the thread guide is underneath the needle clamp, and BOTH must be removed and replaced together as a unit. In addition, the wire is held by a tiny screw in the back of the shaft. That screw also serves as the stop for the end of the needle. Take a look at the shaft right above the needle, and you'll see what looks like a grey bar--that is the screw. It's difficult to access on the back, but must be loosened first -- JUST ONE OR TWO TURNS -- to remove the wire. Then, take off the needle clamp and wire as one unit.

Insert the replacement guide inside and at the back of the needle clamp, with the hook part sticking out of the clamp. You'll see that there's an indentation in the clamp to hold it. Insert the guide and clamp as one unit, then hook the wire around the screw and tighten.

FYI - If you accidentally remove the screw (which only turns about three or four times) and drop it as I did, you don't really need it to hold the wire guide, BUT you still need a needle stop. I just inserted a toothpick when I changed needles until I could get a replacement.

The above sounds relatively easy, but you'll probably have to do some manipulating, especially the first time, and if you're like me, possibly some cussing -- but it WILL fit.

How do I reattach needle threader parts on Singer Futura XL 400?

I've done this, and it's a pain, but can be done. Let me also tell you that quite a few users have broken theirs and just used the machine without it, but others said that they had to replace theirs. First of all, the wire guide is held UNDERNEATH the needle clamp, and what you have to do is insert them back in one piece. That is, remove the clamp, insert the end of the guide, then push them together on the shaft as one unit. The end of the thread guide sticks up over the top of the clamp in the back. There is a very tiny screw there that's supposed to hold it, but most machines are produced without the end going underneath that screw--they just let the needle clamp hold it. That screw is VERY tiny and VERY difficult to access, and will come out completely after only a few turns. Worse yet, it serves as a "stop" for the end of your needle, so if you lose it, you'll have to use something like a toothpick to "stop" the end of the needle until you can replace it. ASK ME HOW I KNOW! It is easier to deal with if you put the machine on its side when you do this.

How do you thread the XL400

Take a look at page 6 of your user's manual. First, is important that your bobbin be unwinding in the correct direction (a picture is right on the machine as well).

On all machines, the thread needs to be "caught" in the area on the bobbin case at the bottom, so that it can exert tension on the bobbin thread. The slot on your needle plate is most helpful in lining the thread up, but personally, I don't then put it in the thread cutter--I find that the thread is too short when I do that. I simply put it through the slot and lay it above that, and then bring the needle down to draw the thread up above the needle plate.

A PDF version of your manual is in the \Manual directory where in installed it on your hard drive, and you can also download one free at the Singer Futura support site.

Futura xl400 , top thread is not showing on the embroidery , only the bobbin color

Sorry to ask, but did you make sure the machine is correctly threaded. If I am not mistaken with the new smart threading system you need to hear a click when going down to the needle. If not the machine is not moving the needle correctly to be able to pic the bobbin thread. Also try to change both threads, (bobbin and upper thread). Some brands are better than others.

I bought the SINGER FUTURA XL400 in august. It sews, monograms an embroiders. Sews like a dream with no issues. The monogramming part has me at my wits end. It skips stiches, leaves big loops an looks bad...

Be sure to install a brand new sharp needle before sewing. Check that the needle, thread, and fabric are compatible. An embroidery needle or top stitch needle may help.

When threading the top thread, ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot before threading to insure the thread seats in the tension disk.

My Brother XL5130 Needle Clamp Body felt out while I am sewing something. I do not know what is missing. I found 4 things in my hand Clamp Body, Pin,Clamp side screw & threads guide. some one plea

There is a hidden screw just that looks like a hole beside the screw that hold the needle... loosen it with # 8 allen key (pretty small) then you put the curved wire back in its hole, then you can put it back on the arm, then screw back the allen screw as tight as you can, this should do the trick worked for me ... I was tring for days to fix it back on but wouldnt go in...this invisible screw was to tight... Hope it helped !

It is a singer quantum futura ce 200 sewing and embroidery machine .the machine sews but incomplete, skipping and missing stiches. does not always bring up bottom thread . grrrrr---help, i want to sew

Sewing machine skips stitches
1.needle inserted incorrectly--flat side of the needle faces the shaft
round needle--groove of needle faces away from the shaft
2.Correct needle insertion is mandatory for proper use.
Raise the needle bar to the highest point, then loosen the clamp screw to remove the needle. Place the new needle in the clamp with the flat side of the needle facing the back of the machine.
If round needle--the groove in the needle faces away from the shaft
Push needle all the way up to the stop or as far as it will go.
3.possible bent needle--lay needle on flat surface & roll needle over, if the needle does not roll good -replace
4.blunt needle point--needle makes a popping sound when needle penetrates the fabric--replace needle
5.needle not all the way up in needle holder--loosen needle clamp screw & push the needle up until it stops then tighten screw
6.incorrect threading--one step missed in sequence of threading can cause machine to skip stitches
7.wrong needle in machine--check instruction manual--some machines can use a generic needle with no problem--some can't--
8.size of needle & thread not compatible--
Using the wrong type needle can cause problems,,
A needle to fine for heavy fabric can bend or break when it hit's the fabric
And a too large needle can make puncture holes in the fabric and pull unevenly while stitching

I have a hard time threading this machine and a hard time getting the bobbin thread to come up.

Hello

Place spool of thread on the spool pin, found inside the carrying handle on the top right side of the machine facing the back.

Lead thread through the upper thread guide, located just beyond the machine's handle.

Lead thread through the second upper thread guide, found a few spaces to the left of the first upper thread guide mentioned in Step 2.

Bring thread around the second upper thread guide down into the thread guide.

Lead thread toward you down through the tension discs.

Continue to pull thread down through the ****. Forming a "U" shape, bring thread back up the left side of the guide, catching the check spring as the thread moves back up through the guide on the left side.

Bring thread up to the take-up lever and insert thread through the eye of the lever in a right-to-left motion.

Lead thread downwards, slipping it down through the horizontal thread guide.

Guide thread through the wire thread guide that is attached to the needle clamp.

Insert thread through needle from front to back, pulling thread four to six inches to create a thread extension. The machine is now threaded.
