SOURCE: Fridge too cold

There is a damper motor that is behind the vent where you feel the cold air coming out in the fridge section.  That damper should open and close after making temp. adjustments.  See if you can look in the vent and see if it is wide open.  Set your freezer on the coldest setting and check this vent again an hour or so later.  If it is still wide open then that damper motor is bad.  Let me know if you find something different or have any questions.

SOURCE: Light on in fridge but no compressor sound or clicks or fan

That dude is probably stuck in the defrost mode.
OK try this:
1. Unplug refrigerator
2. Turn Cold Control to “off (Compressor is off)
3. Plug in refrigerator
The defrost cycle has now been initiated. The DTT has a bypass/test point for diagnosis. To terminate defrost manually:
1. Unplug the refrigerator
2. Turn the cold control “on” (Compressor is on)
3. Plug in the refrigerator
The defrost cycle is terminated and refrigeration cycle resumes.
Replace the dang adaptive defrost if you cannot get any response.

Refrigerator whirpool is only working after tapping on the front control system panel? which part has to be replaced?

Whirlpool side by side fridges with the control panel across the fridge section have thermostats that will fail. Tapping on that control panel will cause the fridge to work temporarily. You will need to replace the refrigerator thermostat if you see small black specks under the thermostat.

Our whirlpool fridge/freezer has stopped working today for no obvious reason. There is still power being supplied to the unit, as the light is still turning on once the door is opened, but it is no longer...

You will need to check the following parts:

  1. Compressor start relay
  2. Cold control thermostat
  3. Compressor
Compressor start relay
  1. With the fridge unplugged, and an Ohm-Meter in hand, remove the Compressor start relay after marking where each wire goes. The wires must be removed before testing the start relay.
  2. Use your ohm meter to test the white(overload) wire, with one meter probe on the terminal where the White wire went, and the other meter probe on the other terminals, 1 at a time, should read 0-1 ohm.
  3. For the brown relay, just put both meter probes in each hole, should read 0-1 ohm.
Cold control thermostat
  1. Put the Compressor start relay back in place and hook the wires back up to it.
  2. Find the cold control thermostat, it is the Switch with a knob that controls the Temperature. Tap under the console and on the knob in your refrigerator section and see if it comes on.
  3. If the contacts inside that cold control thermostat go bad, then when you tap the console or knob the refrigerator comes back on again.

My whirlpool refrigerator side will not cool

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.

Best off to call a reputable service company such as Sears. Sounds like you need a start device for the compressor. Best off to call a reputable service company such as Sears.

Whirlpool Arc7410 fridge/freezer

that isn't a good model number doesn't show up on sears but if you're saying you touch the cold control and it runs then the control has to be replaced, when it stops try tapping on the control and see if it starts, the control tells it when to come on and off, they do go bad.go here and look up your model and you can see the part number,if the freezer is on top open the fridge door and look on the left side wall up near the ceiling and you should see a tag with the model number,if the freezer is on the bottom or side by side open the fridge door and look up at the right hand wall near ceiling and the tag is usually there, also there's a timer in some of these units and the timer tells it when to go into defrost and if this sticks this can also happen and they can be in the same area up in the console where the light is or like my fridge both are up top on fridge side,if you know where the timer is you can try turning it with a strait screw driver and see if it starts when you turn the timer but try to do this gently,if you tap the cover and it's the cold control you might start it lol all it sometimes takes is a light tap and the control will work again,if it doesn't start when the timer clicks from turning it just a few clicks then it will be the cold control and most probably it will be that, you can change it out,not hard, just install it the same way you take it out.
