Hello maybe you just need the driver you can download it here:

http://support.gateway.com/us/en/product/default.aspx?tab=1&modelId=2308

But you have to know something first. Is it a Nvidia driver or Ati ???

Is there a sticker on the cabinet that tells so ???

If the mainboard has a internal graphic card built in on the mainboard
it could be blown so you not get any picture.

You can add a graphic card to a socket on the mainboard
and skip the onboard graphic.Just make sure you have the driver for it.If you are in doubt let a pro do it.

Good luck

I figure I need a replacement graphics card. The PC worked fine yesterday. Turned it on today and no signal to monitor. Tried both DVI and HDMI with the same result. Monitor is Gateway LP2417.

try pulling the power cord out of the monitor and then wait 30 seconds and pull it back in to monitor . Are you dealing with a graphics card or a motherboard video chip. May have DVI and HDMI plugged into motherboard rather than PCI video card. Check Bios to see if conflict exists between motherboard video chip and PCI video card.

HDMI is sound and video. One port / cable does both. Instead verify sound card. It's drivers as well volume properties.

I can not get a signal thru the usb port from a video camera. It works on a tv.

check computer to make sure usb port is actually hooked up to the motherboard. Alot of times premades (computers purchased already put together, i.e. emachine, acer, gateway etc) will not actually plug the front usb's into motherboard... also check connections in computer to make sure usb is the correct type. I think there are a few different types of usbs.

I have a gateway LX 6810-01 with random powering off problems, I have read all the suggestions, including changing fans, after Best Buy having it for 1 week and the only result was it may need a BIOS Chip...

Am sorry to say this but you may have to change the motherboard. However, try adding the white paste by smearing it onto your processor first.

When I turn on my gateway computer my monitor will turn on but will says "no signal RGB". is it my motherboard thats going bad?

If the monitor comes on with the Gateway logo and follows with no signal, the monitor is probably okay. If the computer seems to run with no display then I would suspect the video graphics card, but there are a lot of variables that I do not know. I suggest a computer repair store to check your system with an estimate.

Signal to monitor goes in and out, mostly out

Hopefully, it is just the on board video that has gone bad, and not the motherboard. When you install a video card on a PC, that has on board or integrated video, you will need to access the BIOS screen on start up and disable the on board video. That way the video signal will come from the new video card and not the on board video.

I hope this helps,

Eric
