We have a Zebra 105SL thermal printer. When I print to it with any application, the data light comes on, but it doesn't print. It has ribbon, media, calibrated, no error lights

The data light indicates that the printer is receiving data. Hold the cancel key for 10 seconds while powering on. This will print printer configuration. Use to troubleshoot. If the data or format is wrong it will not print as you send data. Make sure you are using the 105SL printer driver. To test the printer functionality you can go to www.teklynx.com and download a demo copy of labelveiw, select the 105SL printer and try to print a simple label. If you can print with labelveiw then it is not a printer problem. Double check your driver and label format.

I had the same problem and resetting the printer worked. From the Canon website:
Resetting the Printer By resetting the printer's power, the print buffer is cleared and certain sensors are reset. If there is invalid data in the buffer, or sensors are stuck in a particular mode; errors may occur. Follow these steps to reset the printer:
  1. Turn the printer off with the Power button (if available).

  2. Disconnect the data cable from the printer (not applicable to WiFi, Bluetooth or Infrared) .

  3. Unplug the printer's power cord for approximately 10 minutes, and then plug it back in. If troubleshooting a communication issue, reconnect the data cable (not applicable to WiFi, Bluetooth or Infrared).

  4. Turn the printer back on.

Canon i965 flashing amber light

Hi nnub1,

You might try unplugging the printer from electrical source and try unplugging your data cable from the computer. Shut down your computer and disconnect the data cable. Start your computer and then reconnect the data cable. This is assuming you have a usb data connector.

What you want to do is to try to get the printer back to its default settings. The amber light flashing is trying to tell you something. You should also unload any pending documents to try to get the printer back to its default state, but disconnecting data cables and or power connection is going to be required.

Respectfully,
Terry

Printer will not print

Below are instructions for resetting the printer. However, if they don't work, you may have to have the unit serviced - if it's still under Canon's 1 yr warranty, go through them... if it's not, I would weigh the cost of repair to what it would cost to replace the unit altogether.

By resetting the printer's power, the print buffer is cleared and certain sensors are reset.

  3. Unplug the printer's power cord for approximately 10 minutes, power down your computer as well -- and unplug the USB cable (from the printer) from your computer,.and then plug it back in. If troubleshooting a communication issue, reconnect the data cable (not applicable to WiFi, Bluetooth or Infrared).

  4. Turn the printer and computer back on.
Good Luck!
