Question about Hayward TriStar Energy Solution Variable Speed Pump Control with Pro Logic Interface
The LCD on the control box "froze". I turned the breaker off and then back on. I now only see shaded boxes where the words were. The control box is no making noise as if it were operating, but it is not.

It is likely a motor failure. You may be able to take it to a local electric motor repair shop but most of those motors are not economical to repair. You can replace the motor and pump seal for far less than the whole pump. If you would like a quote on the parts, try us at www.arrowpools.net
Use the contact button and include your current pump info in the message.

If you have a crack in your basket you may have a clogged impeller. With the power off reach back into the pump through the pump pot with a long screwdriver and feel around. If it feels spongey it there you have a clog. Take the serew driver an use an oceleting motion in a counter clockwise direction this should loosen the clog then reach in with a long set of thin pliers and pull the clog out. This should fix your problem and once water is flowing your pump should quiet down.

You may have a faulty bearing ... causing the noise. The pump is actually water cooled. Do you have 2 inch line for your 2 HP pump? Small pipe makes the pump work harder. If your lines are smaller, you may want to consider a smaller pump.
the motors will run pretty warm.
Run your pump on high for best results.
If you are using a timer ... you will need a double pole switch to turn it off if it is setup for 220 VAC (which it should be, for most econimical operation)

SOURCE: my hayward 1hp super pump
Inside pump is a difram , it most likely is stuck, some times if you shut off pump, turn back on a few times it might release itself, but most likely needs to be replaced. Let me know, mike from fixya.com
