All about Drivers

A Driver is software that interfaces your operating system with the computer's hardware. Every hardware device has a driver.

If a drive is missing the hardware will not function as expected to check if your missing drivers in windows.

in XP

Right click on my computer select properties, then go to the hardware tab and select device manager, if any of the devices in device manager show up with a yellow question mark you are missing the drivers for that hardware.

in Windows 7

Right click on computer select manage, and then device manager on the left in the new window that opens. Again if there are any yellow question marks you are missing drivers.

So if your missing a driver what do you do?

well
if you bought your computer from a major manufacturer such as dell, hp etc all your systems drivers can be found on their respective websites.

usually they have a support section to their websites where you can enter your computers model number and search for downloads and information once you find the appropriate driver download and install it, and your hardware should be behaving normally now.

If however your computer is not from a major manufacturer, once you have determined what device is missing a driver from the device manager you need to find who made that device. This is usually done by opening up the computer and looking for a label on the device of some kind. Then you need to go to that manufacturers website and see if you can find the driver.

My audio driver is not working (error 10)

The Windows error "This device cannot start. Code 10? or "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" is a hardware error that most commonly means that you have a bad, missing, or incompatible device driver. So, for example, "This device cannot start. Code 10 in audio driver" means that you have a bad or missing or incompatible driver for your sound card.

I suggest trying an update, or if you just updated it roll back the driver.

There is no sound

To solve that problem you must check the following:

1. Check the device driver in your audio by clicking:
* right click my computer
* click properties
* device manager
If you can see missing drivers with a yellow question mark that's the missing device driver install the
driver for that device.

2. For other solutions you can use the software named Driver Checker it will check your PC devices and missing drivers and it will also download the missing drivers and updates.

Missing ethernet controller+Pci device+ sm bus controller

PCI Modem is your dial up modem, Ethernet Controller is your Network Card, and SM Bus Controller is your Motherboard Chipset drivers. There missing because your Operating System has Either Corrupt Drivers or they were never installed in the first place. Sounds like a fresh installation was done and nobody bothered to look in the device manager to see if any hardware drivers were missing.
