Question about Carrier Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

Furnace stopped working.

My Furnace is not working. The blower comes on for approx. 1 minute, then shuts off. I have a Carrier 58PAV135, Furnace. I found two different buttons, that appear to be reset/pressure switch buttons, I have turned everything off, waited 30 minutes, pushed the resets (there's no click or anything significant), checked the connections, restarted, and same thing, just a fan blows and then shuts off. The LED code is 1,2 sometimes, and 3,3 other times. Please help. Thanks, Cold in Detroit.

Have old Carrier standing pilot furnace. Furnace calls for heat, but blower does not come on for almost 1 minute. How can I make blower some on sooner??

If it has a honeywell fan control, the cover can be pulled off and the setting can be lowered by adjusting the small lever on the dial, if it is a timed control it probably has no adjustment unless it was replaced with an adjustable fan control.

Carrier Furnace infinity 96.model 58MVP060-F-18114. Furnace heats

Sounds like it could be your fan limit switch. Part costs about 20 bucks and is fairly simple to replace. This limit switch is a safety that prevents your furnace from over heating. Usually when your t/s is satisfied the blower runs for a little longer after the burners have stopped, and the reason for that is the limit switch. The blower is supposed to cool this limit switch to a certain temp. and once it reaches this temp it shuts the blower off. Yours is stuck:(

Carrier 58 Series Furnace Blower Motor Won't Shut Off

Yes. If the high limit is tripped, the furnace will bring on the fan continuously until the limit resets. Often, they will not reset if tripped repeatedly. If the furnace is too large for your application, you probably are not able to move enough air to keep the heat exchanger cool enough.

There should be a schematic inside where the blower is or in the main elec. panel on unit

Blower stays on after heat goes off

when the room thermostat is satisfied it stops the heat by stopping power to the sequencer or contactor which is in series with the heating element/s...the TEMPERATURE OPERATED FAN SWITCH then takes over the blower until the heaters cool

sounds like the relay for the unit may be bad, usually if a blower motor goes it stops or has a very loud humm and only goes slow

Furnace runs OK, but blower runs again a few seconds later

Could be a defective thermostat in the plenum.
When a gas furnace shuts down the fan(blower) will run until the plenum cools to the safe range. Usually 1 and 1/2 minutes.
Intermittent operation is a defective thermostat or relay.

Furnace pilot problem

check the pilot gas pressure, might be too weak and blowing out when the blower starts, the clicking noise is the gas valve shutting down when it detecks no pilot flame, that park is normal.
