My dad gave me his Curtis DVD 1174. It works great but he did not have the remote. I cannot scroll to different scenes, episodes or features on the DVD. How can I get a remote control for this player?

Your best bet would be to pick up a universal remote (found in any electronics store) that can replace the original remote. There are a lot of universal remotes available, most would probably do the job. In the manuals for these universal remotes you can find the specific code that refers to your DVD. (you just have to follow the programming instructions in the manual for the universal remote)
The Best of the Bunch would be an Intelligent Remote like the Logitech Harmony Remotes, they are a bit more expensive (starting around $40) than the generic universal remotes, but they are programmable and have probably the best chance of having the right code for the DVD. The other advantage to the universal is being able to control your other components with just one remote...

hope that helps... good luck

Curtis Mathes TV Remote Control Codes for Programming the remote to the TV

I own a One-for-All universal remote, and my booklet says the setup code for a Curtis Mathes TV (without a built-in DVD or VCR) is one of the following numbers: 0030, 0047, 0054, 0060, 0093, 0145, 0154, 0166, 0451, 0702. I can not guarantee these numbers will work with your remote, but it is worth a try.
