DLL file do not open. They assist by being part of a software installation. Try reinstalling software or disable in startup.

Go to Start > Run (search in Win 7) and type MSConfig. In Startup tab, uncheck anything that you don't want Windows to load automatically. It will make Windows boot faster and use less resources while running. This just disables them in startup. Programs will still load, but when only you initiate.

How to fix update issues in windows ...

First of all, open an elevated command prompt, if u're using vista or win7 (right click on cmd and select run as administrator)

Then type in the following commands.. hit enter after each command...

net stop cryptsvc
net stop bits
net stop wuauserv
ren %systemroot%\system32\catroot2\Edb.log *.bak
ren %systemroot%\system32\catroot2 cat
exit

DO NOT RENAME OR DELETE ANYTHING PRESENT IN another folder named CATROOT, rename only the catroot2 folder

then click on start and browse to the folder
%systemroot%\softwaredistribution\
delete everything present in it

browse to the following folder
%systemroot%\system32\CatRoot\{F750E6C3-38EE-11D1-85E5-00C04FC295EE}
search for files tmp*.cat in it... delete them, DO NOT DELETE ANYTHING ELSE

now, we will unregister and re-register a few, 10 i believe, dlls
open an elevated command prompt once again,
and type in the following commands, or you can create a batch file ...
first we will unregister

regsvr32 /u softpub.dll
regsvr32 /u wintrust.dll
regsvr32 /u initpki.dll
regsvr32 /u dssenh.dll
regsvr32 /u rsaenh.dll
regsvr32 /u gpkcsp.dll
regsvr32 /u sccbase.dll
regsvr32 /u slbcsp.dll
regsvr32 /u mssip32.dll
regsvr32 /u cryptdlg.dll
exit
now restart the computer..

again open an elevated command prompt..
now we will re-register

regsvr32 softpub.dll
regsvr32 wintrust.dll
regsvr32 initpki.dll
regsvr32 dssenh.dll
regsvr32 rsaenh.dll
regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll
regsvr32 sccbase.dll
regsvr32 slbcsp.dll
regsvr32 mssip32.dll
regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll
exit
again restart

after restarting, in start search, type in, services.msc and hit enter
We need to check whether three services, namely,
Background Intelligent transfer Service (BITS),
Audomatic Update Service (wuauserv),
Cryptographic Services (cryptsvc);
are started and set to automatic or not, if not start them, and set the startup type as automatic...

Now perform the updates again, and the issue should be resolved...
