Question about Golden Technologies Avenger 3 Wheel Electric Scooter

1 Answer

Sudden stops Just put new batteries in the avenger 3 wheeled scooter and the store salesman said the batteries were 90% charged. So we went down the street to the buss transit center and traveled to Popies chicken. then, on the way back the scooter would go full speed and then without letting off of the accelerator, the wheels would lock up and the scooter would stop. Also, the battery lights would then flash up and down the console light and you at this point have to turn the key off and wait about 10 seconds and then start up again to go another 20 feet or so. Then it would do the same thing again. any ideas? tom h

Sounds like the brake. Ohm chech the brake (it is attached to the end of the motor). It should be around 35 ohms

Needs a full overnight charge of at least 12 hours and left on charge even when the lights tell you it's is charged up.then get into the habit of running it right down to improve the storage stamina of battery.good idea to take charger out with you so if you get a chance to top it up somewhere whilst away from home.remember in cold weather these things can't travel as far.

DRIVEMEDICAL PHOENIX 3 WHEEL Just bought it and charged it for 10hours. When I put battery into scooter, all the battery lights come on- 2red 1yellow is it charged? are the connections loose?...

Wez Thats a normal indication of a full charge. The battery level indicator will go down as you use the scooter. Always charge the scooter overnite if you use it a good bit during the day. With new batteries it will take 8-10 charging to break them in and operating at 100%. Always store fully charged and if not used alot charge once a week after you have charged the batteries 8-10 times

Hope this helps

My four wheel golden electic scooter is fully charged but went from fully operational to just clicking and not moving at all. Can you help?

Hi. I have had this problem on many machines. It is normally a stuck brush in the motor. This stops the motor from going. The click you can hear is probably the brake solenoid releasing.
Can also be a faulty connector in the motor or battery leads.
Good luck. Neil.

Golden avenger goes very slow with good batteries

ok so you're sure the batteries are ok, and the charger is charging the batteries ,

check the battery connections on the terminal are not loose , they must be tight but don't overdo it,

are the brushes ok ? do they move ok within the motor ? sometimes they can stick therefore you lose power and speed,

Lastly but can cause problems is the speedpot, does it have a lot of up and down movement ? you will be suprised the problems they can cause.

The battery takes a charge, but will not power scooter

This scooter require two batteries, not one. It is usually a good idea to replace both batteries at the same time, even though one is obviously bad, and the other "seems" okay. These 12 volt DC batteries (VDC) work in tandem to produce the 24 volts that the scooter operates on. In a perfect world, they would both live a long and happy life, but reality is that some die young, others old. Since they are joined together, the one that's going out saps the life out of the other one, so take a bullet and replace both batteries. Make sure you completely charge the scooter when you get the new ones in. Verify that your charger is working properly. To properly charge the 24 VDC system, the chargers have to have an output of about 26-28VDC. The output must be higher than the rated voltage of the two batteries put together to charge. While you have the shell off the scooter, you can see if the charger is working by measuring across the terminal on each battery with the charger off. Note the meter reading. It should be 12-13 VDC. Put it on the charger and retake the reading, and each battery should show an increase in the voltage due to the boost from the charger. After three hours, each battery should show about a 13.5 VDC reading which should hold above 12 for a good 8-10 miles. Always charge your batteries overnight, and if not in use, disconnect them completely with a full charge on the batteries.
