SOURCE: washer top

The following link should give you the steps necessary to remove the exterior washer casing to inspect the interior:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r397092-replacing_water_pump

The instructions are for replacing the washer pump, but the steps to gain access to the interior are the same. If the leak is coming from the FRONT of the washer, check the pump and drain hoses for loose connections. If the pump is leaking, it is not repairable (sealed unit) and must be replaced. If the leak is coming from UNDER THE WASH TUB, this is a symptm of a leaking tub seal, or cracked tub. This requires removal of the wash basket to replace either part. If the leak is coming from the SIDE of the wash tub after it starts to fill, check the air dome hose to ensure it is still attached and not leaking. This is a small air hose that connects to the side of the wash tub and runs to your pressure switch. It sometimes becomes loose or disconnected and leaks. If the leak is coming from the BACK of the washer, check the fill hoses and water inlet valve hoses. I hope you find this information helpful. If you need further assistance, please let me know.

How do I replace the moter belt

Hi

Use screwdrivers to remove the screws in the rear access panel of the washer and then pull off the panel.Locate the pump coupling, which is the rubber part that connects the motor to the water pump, and unscrew the clamps securing it to the motor. Once the coupling is removed, tension is removed from the belt.Slide the belt off of the pulley assemblies and slide the new belt in its stead. Reattach the coupling with the mounting clamps and check the tension on the belt. You should be able to wiggle the belt a bit, but not more than an inch or so.Close the access panel and turn on the machine. Run it through a cycle while observing it to see how it handles the belt change.

I need to know how to replace the belt

hello,

intruction

Front load washers are convenient and easy to use. They offer the convenience of extra capacity and tend to wash clothes a little better than their top loading counterparts. Sometimes, however, the belt that drives the drum will break and need to be replaced. Replacing a drive belt on front load washers is not that difficult and can be performed by many home mechanics.

  • Use the screwdrivers to remove the screws in the rear access panel of the washer and then pull off the panel.

Locate the pump coupling, which is the rubber part that connects the motor to the water pump, and unscrew the clamps securing it to the motor. Once the coupling is removed, tension is removed from the belt.

Slide the belt off of the pulley assemblies and slide the new belt in its stead. Reattach the coupling with the mounting clamps and check the tension on the belt. You should be able to wiggle the belt a bit, but not more than an inch or so.

  • 4 Close the access panel and turn on the machine. Run it through a cycle while observing it to see how it handles the belt change.

I think a overloaded the washer and it wouldnt spin.

Frigidaire washer will not take a overloaded tub without causing belt problems.
    Unplug the washer.
Remove the 2 screws on the very bottom of the front washer panel.
Slide the front panel down slightly and remove it from the cabinet.
Inspect the belt around the motor pulley and transmission.
If it is worn at all it needs replacing.
You could plug the washer back in and set it to Spin cycle and watch for the motor to turn and the belt slipping to verify a bad belt.
Keep your hands, fingers and tools away from all moving parts.

My Maytag washer will agitate without clothes in it but will not agitate with clothes in.

The belt is not doing it's job. It could be that the belt is worn, if so a replacement can be bought from a Maytag dealer. It is also possible that the belt is just not under the proper tension. Maytag motors are mounted in a slide, and tension is applied by a spring. if the grease in the slide gets old and hard, the slide will stick making for a loose belt. To access, you'll need to remove part of the cabinet. Pop the top loose at the front, remove two screws at the top of the front panel, and release the clips at the bottom to remove the front panel. Free up the slide with some light motor oil and re-assemble.

Belt amana washer replace mod lw6501w2

I have a similar amana top load washer and just changed the belt. Here are the steps I used to change the belt:
    1) Unplug the washer
    2) Slide the washer away from the wall about 12"
    3) Remove two screws from the bottom of the front panel, slide the front panel down (there are 2 metal tabs that slide into slots on the top of the front panel - observe how they slide into/out of the slots). Set the panel aside.
    4) Remove the electrical connector (upper left of motor). Press down on the top of the plastic connector - this will undo the catch hook holding the connection in place). Observe how the belt is routed before proceeding.
    5) Remove 4 bolts holding the motor in place. You can remove the motor - even with the water pump and hoses in place - they will flex.
    6) Remove the water pump from the motor. There are 3 torx - head screws to remove. Note: You will need a star shaped (torx) head driver (Looks like a screwdriver but with a "star" head on it. The one I used measured just under 3/16 in diameter.
    7) carefully remove the water pump. - remove the old belt from main pulley under washer drum and also from the water pump. Insert the new belt - be sure to put the tension pulley on the outside of the belt.
    8) Reinstall the water pump to the motor. Reinstall the motor. Route the belt correctly in the water pump body area first - them slide the belt around the left side of the main drum pulley - rotate the pulley counter-clockwise and the pulley will tug the belt onto the pulley. Once in place - check bolts and belt - then reattach the electrical connector (remember to press the plastic lever on top of the plastic connector before sliding it in place). Reattach front panel - slide the top of the panel onto the metal tabs - then attach screws at the bottom.
