SOURCE: Jenn Air lp grill won't light with the ignitor button

I just finished cleaning our starter on our jenn air. Over time, corrosion, rust and battery acid builds up on both the coils on the lid (positive side) as well as in the battery chamber and negative tip inside the chamber. I used sand paper and sanded the coils in the cap and the chamber. The coils need direct connection to the battery to create the charge. There are no instructions on this that I was able to find. I figured it out after about 3 hours of fussing with it. It worked immediately once I placed the battery back in. You may also need to clean the electrode tips near the burner. I used a q-tip. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: PUSH BUTTON IGNITOR DOES NOT LIGHT THE BURNERS

Clean any grease or residue that might be on the ignitor preventing it from sparking.  If it is clean and it does not spark when pressed, replace it.

SOURCE: New propane tank. Burner

jcw - It sounds like the regulator is locked up from turning on the gas tank valve. Happens a lot with the new OPD Valves on the grill tanks.

1. Turn the tank valve OFF and disconnect the hose from the tank.
2. Turn the burner(s) ON for 1 Minute, Then turn them OFF.
3. After 5 minutes reconnect the hose to the tank and open the valve VERY, VERY, SLOWLY (Slow
motion, slow).
4. Once the tank valve is fully open light one burner and turn it to HIGH. Did the burner light and
does the flame height look correct? Id so, light the remaining burner the way. Did it light and the
flame height look correct? If so, you solved the problem (with a little help).

If the above didn't solve the problem, the Hose/regulator Assembly needs to be replaced. What happened was this, when you turned the tank upside to "burp" the tank. The OPD Valve shot a hot load of gas to the regulator, when you opened it as you normally would and permanently locked up the grill's regulator. That "burping" trick used to work with the old style tanks. Won't work with the new ones. You can get a new hose/regulator assembly at any home center or hardware store, that sells grills and accessories. They run about $30.00. Take your old one with you for comparison purposes. Once you install the new one and connect it to the tank. Open the Valve Very, Very Slowly, until it is fully open. Or you may have the same problem again.

Hope this helped to solve the problem. Happy Grilling!!

SOURCE: brinkman grill 3 burner pro series 8300 won't

To restore gas to the burners, follow the instructions below.

1. Turn the gas tank valve OFF and disconnect the hose from the tank.

2. Wait 5 minutes and reconnect the hose to the tank.

3. Open the tank valve VERY, VERY SLOWLY (Slow motion, slow).

4. Once the tank valve is fully open, light the burner farthest from the tank first and set the burner
control knob on HIGH. Does the flame height look correct for being set on HIGH? If so, light
the remaining burners the same way. Do all the burner flames look correct? If so, you solved
the problem. Remember, to always open the tank valve Very, Very Slowly.

If that didn't solve the problem, you will need to replace the grill's Hose/Regulator Assembly. It runs about $30.00 at any home center or hardware store that sells grills & accessories. If you replace it, turn the tank valve ON Very, Very Slowly.

Hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Happy Grilling.

I have a kenmore quantum series propane grill which i cleaned and now i cant get it to light and i smell the propane what should i check?

Donna, are you saying the ignitors are not working or that the burners just won't light? Not even by match lighting them? All this makes a difference in providing a solution for you.
Please advise. Thanks

We just put together our Genesis E320 LP Grill. The ignitor is not igniting the far right side of the grill. It does ignite the first two knobs and the side burner. What is going on?

I have a new EP320 and my instructions specify that the ignitor lights Burner #1 and the other grill burners light off of that - Burner #2 second - Burner #3 lights last off of Burner #2.

Gas grill wont lite manuallly

Do you mean it won't match light or the ignitor won't spark and light the burners? Or both?

If it won't match light or the ignitor sparks, but the burners don't light, that means you're not getting gas to the burners.

Check to the tank valve and make sure it's turned ON. Also, make sure that there's gas in the tank.
If both of those check out as OK, turn the gas tank valve OFF. Disconnect the hose from the tank and wait 5 minutes. Reconnect the hose to the tank and turn the tank valve ON VERY, VERY SLOWLY (Slow motion, slow). Once the valve is fully open, light the burner farthest from the tank first and turn it to HIGH. Did the burner light and the flame height looks correct? If so, light the remaining burners following the same procedure. Now, are they all lit and the flames heights look correct? If so, you solve the problem. Just remember to always open the tank valve very, very slowly.

if the burners failed to light. Remove and clean all the burners, as well as the venturi valve on the open of each burner. Spiders like to build nest in the venturi valves.

if cleaning the burners did not solve the problem, you will need to replace the grill's hose/regulator assembly. You can find it in any home center or hardware store that sells gas grills and accessories, for about $30.00. Take you old one with you for comparison purposes.

Hope this helped you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please be kind enough to let me know. Thanks and Happy grilling!!

Does conversion from LP gs to Natural gas on Ducane 30400040 (essentially makes it a model 30400041) require changing the inlet orofice on the IR burner ? I purchased conversion kit that included all new...

Did the conversion kit give you an LP orifice for every new gas valve? LP gas orifices have smaller holes than Nat gas orifices. Can you smell gas when you turn on the IR burner by itself? Some burners styles have an air adjustment on the end that fits over the orifice. Make sure it's getting enough air. Also make sure your ignitor sparker is positioned where the spark can ark against the top of the burner. Ducane grills have rotary ignitors, so turn it (with gas off) and see if you can actually see where it's sparking. If it's not sparking in the right place, it will be difficult to light.

Running out of LP??

Yes. The ignitor is trying to find fire and it can't. That's an ignition error. It should go away once you get fire to the sensors. You might have to hit a reset button, it all depends on the heater.

High performance burner slow to light

Replace that ignitor on that burner only. Not drawing enough amps to spark properly.
