The most likely problem is that the onboard power supply has failed, usually a capacitor has burned out. Or it could be a loose DC supply socket (they only need to have one loose pin on the motherboard.)

SOURCE: Sony Viao, won't power up

Laptop motherboard power pin, broken solder connections. Quite common on all laptops. Can be bought from ebay for cheap, if you are mechanically inclined and can solder you should be able to repair it yourself, if not need to find someone who is good at electonics and have them repair it for you.

SOURCE: battery will not charge on a dell d610 when plugged into outlet

I have seen this with faulty batteries.
Try changing the battery.
Also, check in the BIOS that the adapter you are using is recognised and shows a state of charging with the battery in.

SOURCE: Mother board light comes when I plug the board,

It's probably a motherboard issue, since you can get power to the board, but it doesn't fully power up. I would replace the motherboard and see if the problem persists. I hope this helps!

SOURCE: I think my mother board is fried.

If they had you plug in a USB cable to the modem (not even sure how that fit) then you need to work through the ISP to repair your laptop.
The battery probably is charging but sounds like the mobo is fried (like you suspect).

No Power on Hp 620 Laptop

If the battery does not charge then the problem is likely the charger.
If you can borrow a charger instead of buying a new one you can find out for sure if the problem is the inside the laptop its self or the charger.
Remove the battery and hold down the standby button for a whole minute to drain any remaining power in the model. replace the battery , attach the new/borrowed charger lead and see if any activity happens ie, sound, lights...ect. This is the first thing someone does in a repair shop and its to diagnose where the issue is comming from.

Toshiba Satellite L655 Not Switching on

You mentioned that it won't turn on with the charger (without the battery). Does this mean that it turns on if the battery is in?

If it turns on with the battery, then you need to replace your AC adapter.

MY ASUS F5VL MOTHERBOARD WON'T TURN ON???

Here below are possible causes and troubleshooting steps of laptop that can't power on, hope it may help:

Possible causes:
AC adapter failure.
Power jack failure.
Motherboard failure.

Possible troubleshooting steps and repair solutions:
Test the AC adapter with a digital multimeter. It's possible that you have a failed AC adapter. If you don't have a multimeter, test your laptop with another known good AC adapter.

It's possible that power jack (socket where you plug the AC adapter) is broken. Remove the motherboard and take a closer look at the power jack. In some cases you can fix the jack by resoldering it on the motherboard. In other cases you have to replace the jack with a new one. Using a multimeter, test if the power goes to the motherboard through the jack.

If replacing the AC power adapter and jack on the motherboard doesn't help, most likely you have a bad motherboard. Replace the motherboard.

had a similar problem, and I resoleved it via a bios flash..this allowed the hardware to be fully recognized and to perform the specified role. For some reason, the bios software for this version seems to corrupt after several years. I have had my machine for the last four years..until it recently started giving the issues,it had no problems.
