You need to clean the carburetor. Disassemble the carb. and spray with carb. cleaner. If you need tip on how best to do this, just let me know. If after you have reassembled and tried to start, and it still does the same thing, you will need to buy a carb. kit and replace all appropriate parts.

Are you saying full throttle, or full choke? if full throttle, you should be able to set the idle up. the idle screw will be the one when you give it gas, it will be the screw on you'r throttle linkage. If full choke, maybe the spark arrestor is plugged. You can remove it by removing the muffler.It would be between the muffler and cylinder head. You don't need this to run.I hope any thing I posted will help.

SOURCE: Stalls out at full throttle

Has the air filter been removed, damaged, or the airbox not seated propelry on the carbs neck, this would cause it to run lean hence requiring the choke to be in operation all the time. Have you tried fresh fuel?? This goes stale after a while. I hope this is helpful, Ian

Sounds like you have dirt/debris in your caburetor jets,fuel passages or a diaphgram that is becoming non-flexible.
Check/Clean/Replace your Air Filter, a dirty air filter can make your engine run to rich with fuel.
Note: ALWAYS USE COMPRESSED AIR TO CLEAN YOUR JETS AND PASSAGES, VERY IMPORTANT.
Note:Before you disassemble the carburetor:
Mark each piece with a awl, or some kind of instrument that will make an alignment scratch before you disassemble the carburetor into separate pieces.
That way you will know which way it goes back together when you reassemble it.
Sometimes you can get by with priming the carburetor or by using starting fluid and letting it run a few times like that, and it will flush the gunk out of the jets,but most of the time you will need to rebuild the carburetor.
Be sure to check your fuel tank for water and dirt/debris, if there is water/debris then you need to clean your tank.
Check you fuel line condition after a while they will degrade and need replacment.
Check/Clean/Replace your fuel filter if you have one, normally they are located in the fuel tank of weedeaters.
When you remove your fuel lines from the carburetor be sure to make a drawing to how the lines are connected to the carburetor.
Normally the big line will be the line the fuel filter is connected to inside of the tank.The smaller of the two lines is the return to the fuel tank from the carburetor after it is pumped thru the carburetor by the primer bulb.
Make sure you are using fresh fuel...and oil mix if your using a two cycle weedeater with the oil to the right mixture and not too much oil as it can cause hard starting.
If the trimmer is over a couple of years old, then I recommend that you buy and install a new carburetor repair kit,because the diaphragm will get hard and that will cause it to be hard to crank.
The diaphgram may look good and flexible, but it can be deceiving and not act as a fuel pump as it should because it has become too hard and will cause hard starting,start and run and shut off, etc.
When you clean your carburetor, I recommend that you use a laquer thinner type cleaner to clean and dissolve the laquer build-up in the float and needle jet passages.
Be sure to remove all plastic and rubber parts before using the laquer thinner because it can dissolve the plastic parts and render them unuseable.
Be sure to use COMPRESSED AIR to blow out all the fuel and air passages.The higher air pressure is needed to blow some of the trash/debris from the fuel or air passages.
Be careful when blowing out the passages, because there are sometimes small rubber type seats in the bottom of some of the passages.
Keep in mind that the float (if you have one) for the carburetor must be level when you go to reassemble the carburetor or follow the instructions you get with the carburetor kit, or you could also ask the parts man that you get your kit from.
When you clean your carburetor and remove the jet screws, you will first need to lightly seat the jet screws.
But before you lightly seat the jet screws count the number of turns it takes to seat the jet screws from their original position.
Be sure to mark the turns down on a piece of paper.
That way when you put the jets back in, you know to lightly seat them first and then turn them back out to their original position before you started.
Note:
The little spring inside of the carburetor goes under the float arm.
That is where your fuel inlet needle/float valve is located...on the arm at the end.
Normally there is a small indetion in the carburetor base and a small protrusion on the underneath of the float arm where the spring will be in the right postion for installation.
The spring will set in the indention and you will install the float arm with the needle/float valve and float rod into position over top of the spring,you will push down until it is in position and then you can tighten the screw that holds the float arm assembly in position.
Once you have your carburetor cleaned/rebuilt that should solve your problem.

My boat reaches full speed 12 mph at half throttle any thing after that it just revs up and actually goes slower 1st I thought I had a spun hub but I replaced it with a brand new hub kit and prop


Sounds like 'cavition' Michael. Google it.

Don't run it for any length of time because your engine is over-revving with no load. Adjusting the trim usually fixes it, or accelerating gently rather than a fist full of throttle.

My troy built riding mower won't run full throttle it only run at about half throttle


if it runs good at half throttle, it just wont throttle up it sounds like the throttle cable has slipped. you might try to adjust it to get full throttle back .but if when you turn it up to full throttle and it dies then you have a choke, carburetor, fuel line, fuel filter or fuel tank problem. hope this gives you an idea.

The adjuster screws on a chainsaw carb are fuel screws,not air screws, so by unscrewing them anti clockwise will richen the mixture, there are normally three screws, an engine idle screw, this will operate against the throttle spindle, a screw marked L, this will adjust the fuel mixture from idle to half throttle including acceleration, and a screw marked H, this will ajust the fuel mixture from half throttle to full revs, as this will increase the maximum revs it is very importent not to exceed the manufacturers no load speeds, so a engine tacometer should be used to check this, over speeding can seriously damage the engine.

Adjusting carbs on chainsaws is not to be taken on lightly, there will normally be three screws, an L screw, an H screw, and an idle scre, the L screw will increase the fuel mixture from idle to half throttle ( they are fuel screws not air screws ) the H screw will adjust from half throttle to maximum revs, start with a base setting of between one turn and one and a half turns out, start the saw and warm through, allow it to idle, if need be increase the idle screw to get an idle, turn the L screw in slowley, the revs will increase as the mixture leans off, it will reach a point where it starts to die, now back it off a quarter of a turn, blip the throttle, the saw should pick up clean, if it has a flat spot increase the L screw slightley, now set the idle so it idles without the chain moving on the bar, now screw the H screw in to get full revs, be aware this should be set with an engine rev counter, do not exceed the manufacturersmax revs, hobby saws normally run at about 12500 rpm with an idle speed of 3000 rpm.

My poulan starts easy and idles with the choke pull out but will not stalls out when gas is rev..It runs only seconds when choke is pushed in


It is sounds like it is running too lean ( fuel starvation ) before doing anything else replace the fuel filter in the fuel tank, check the fuel hoses up to the carb for leaks or signs of cracks, many later machines have anti tamper screws on the carb, it maybe that the mixture needs to be richened up a little, if you just have standard slots in the adjuster screws, make an adjustment to the H and the L screw, turn them out 1/4 turn on each, check the running now, the L screw will adjust the fuel mixture from idle up to half throttle, the H screw will adjust the mixture from half throttle to full revs, if it hesitates on pick up adjust the L screw a further 1/4 turn. If it sounds rich at full revs wind the H screw in slightly, be aware the H screw can lean the mixture off enough to seize the machine if screwed in too far, if you have a tacometer the max revs should not exceed 12500.

Generally this is a fuel / air ratio problem. Usually it can be solved by a carb adjustment. On the carb there are usually two screws, one marked low or L , the other marked high or H. Low is your adjustment for idle mixture, high is for mixture at full throttle. The saw should Always be adjusted to run well during the cut. Make adjustments a little at a time, then try The saw. Continue small adjustments untill the saw is performing well at full throttle while Cutting.

Bike bogs for second then revs when throttling


Pull the slide out of the carb then remove the jet needle and move the clip one notch lower on the needle.
