Question about Toshiba Libretto 50CT Notebook

Upgrade the Toshiba Libretto 50 CT

Please advice me if it is possible to replace the HD for a solid state flash card or any other solid state, to improve the speed.

There a supplier that provides a PCMCIA with 2 GB flash card
will you please advice if it is possible to boot directly from this card instead of the hard disk.

I read in another place that it is possible to upgrade the memory speed up to 100 Mh but I think that the speed will be improved if it is possible to replace the HD

I already have the 2GB flash card but I don´t know how to boot directly from the card instead from the hard disk.

I also read somewhere that there are available SSD to replace the hard disk for a solid state hard disk, but I don´t know where to look for one

If you want to improve the speed of your laptop you could buy a faster harddrive with an higher rpm per minute than the one installed in the unit, that WILL speed up the system:), and yes its possible to boot from the 2gb flash card but i recommend if you are going to use a flash card you get a bigger one:)
Cheers

I have a DXG 5B1 HD and need to replace the card. What specific card is compatable?

As per this page:

DXG USA DXG 5B1V HD DXG Sportster 1080p HD Underwater Camcorder

SD Card (Up to SDHC 16GB Class6)

This is probably one of the best you can buy:

SanDisk Ultra 16GB SDHC Class 6 Flash Memory Card Speed Up To 30MB SDSDH...

If you don't need 16GB, you can buy cheaper cards with less storage space.

The power light is blinking

Good. Your virus-scanner is automatically scanning the files on the memory-stick. Or, the Windows "Disk Defragmenter" has been configured to "automatically defrag new devices".
Note that flash-drives and SSD (solid-state drives) should _NEVER_ be defragged -- it does not improve the "speed" of the device.

Toshiba Satellite C655D-S5084 CPU upgrade

It is possible but usually not worth the hassle.
Changing to another CPU chip that fits your motherboard may only show a 3-10% performance change.

See videos of CPU replacement in laptops like yours:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPdZ4PQhqyo
or
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9a0hIPdVmc

In general, you are better off adding more RAM (memory) or replacing the hard drive with a faster SSD (Solid State Drive) to make a laptop "fly". Your laptop can hold a max of 8 GB RAM:

http://www.crucial.com/upgrade/Toshiba-memory/Satellite+C655+Series/Satellite+C655D-S5084-upgrades.html

In MOST laptops, slower 5400 RPM drives are used, and this is the main performance bottleneck. A 7200 RPM drive or (better yet) a SSD drive will help matters, as will more RAM (the most cost-effective speed increase).

Toshiba libretto 50 ct wont boot

I haven't encountered multiple beeps on shutdown - but multiple beeps on startup is usually an indication of a memory issue. Frequently can be resolved by simply taking memory modules out and re-inserting them.

If problem continues, may need to replace memory chip. If more than one chip, put one in at a time and startup to see which chip is causing the problem.

Not sure, based on your description of the problem, if this is the issue - but certainly worth a try.

Best of Luck!

HOW TO IMPROVE THE SPEED IN WIN7

The best way to speed up W7 is to install an SSD (Solid State Drive), such as one of these drives:
http://www.compusa.com/applications/category/category_tlc.asp?CatId=5298&name=Internal-Solid-State-Hard-Drives&

While they are expensive, you will_not_ regret the investment. To save $, you don't need to purchase a large SSD drive. Put W7 on a small capacity SSD (commonly referred too as a boot drive) and then use a regular hard drive (your old one) for mass storage. For example, on my computer, I use a 40GB SSD for W7 (C:) and a regular 500GB hard drive (D:) for music, videos, large downloads, pics, etc.

There are also a plethora of websites that will show you how to speed up W7. Here is one:
http://www.computingunleashed.com/speed-up-windows-7-ultimate-guide-to.html

Another way to speed up W7 is to install more memory, but you won't get near the noticeable performance increase as an SSD. In fact, after installing an SSD, if you try to enable ready boost on a flash drive W7 will tell you that it is not neccessary because you already have an SSD that is faster.

Yes its possible but that would mean a main board replacement too and the price is not reasonable for an upgrade part compare to a new laptop with a powerful graphics.
