3 orange flashes means flat battery. If you have a faulty charger or charger socket on the laptop then the battery wont charge or power up with just the charger connected.

SOURCE: My laptop Vostro 1320 wont

Hello.

The most common reasons for power issues are the battery, power jack and power adapter/cord.

Power off and remove the battery. If the laptop powers on with just the adapter connected, your battery is faulty.

If you move/wiggle the power adapter at the point where it connects to the laptop, and the power goes off and on, the power jack is the problem.

The power jack is inside the laptop and either needs soldering or replacement. If a power jack problem, it should be addressed by someone knowledgeable.

If no change, the power adapter is probably faulty and needs replacement.

It's also possible that your motherboard is problematic.

Hope this helps.

What means when the power light keep turning on and off

Hi Essa

Have a look in your manufacturer's handbook/manual.

It's more than likely the lights flash but not charging your laptop because it has sensed that there is a charging lead plugged in but the laptop is not receiving current. This could mean one of two things:

1. The charging socket is faulty and needs to be replaced
2. The Charging lead is faulty (wrong laptop lead or non genuine)

If you have a multimeter and you are proficient in it's use you can check the voltage coming out of the charging lead to see if it's working or not.

Andrew

Flashing battery and power light

Hi Micheal,

your question is a bit vague?
does that mean your laptop does not turn on at all?.
you could try putting the power suypply into the power outlet onthe laptop if the battery on the laptop is faulty it should boot up as normal.
if the battery is faulty , you will have to get a new one evewntually you can get one on ebay for low cost, i think there is a quick fix.

turn of the laptop
take the power lead out of the jack.
take the battery out of the bottom.
hold the laptop upside down and hold the power button in for 2 mins after this recconect the battery and power lead and try turninig on if it worked the battery shiould start charging and should last for at least 10 mins.

Hope this helps.

Not booting but power button flash

Hi,

Since you didn't tell us what kind of laptop you have, or what system you're running, we can only guess.

If the power button is flashing, usually it means the laptop is asleep or in hibernation mode. Check your laptop's documentation on how to wake it up, or bring it out of hibernation. On some models, you can press and hold the power button to shut it down then power it on again.

Hope this helps. Please rate my response

Toshiba Satellite L450 black screen on startup no fune sound

OK, you get the yellow light which I assume happens when you plug in the power cord even though you have not pressed the Power Button. So, when you pressed the Power Button, did you see any other lights flashing such as the disk drive light? Did you hear the Fan running and the Disk Drive running? Did you hear the DvD/CD drive click once or the light on the DvD/CD drive door flash? If you did see the aforementioned that means your system is trying to boot and might in fact completed the boot process but the Video is not displaying. If it seems like the computer is running by no video is displaying try shinning a flashlight on the screen to see if you can faintly see the icons or something on the screen. If so that means your LCD Inverter is probably bad and needs to be replaced. You could attach an external monitor to the laptop then press and hold the FN (Function Key) + the (F1 thru F12) key that corresponds to displaying on an external monitor. If the video shows on the external monitor then surely you have an issue with the Laptop's screen. If the laptop is not running and you hear no fans, no disk drive running and saw no lights then you probably have a motherboard issue. Get a quote from your local repair shops, then try the guys at: http://www.generalsystemsconsulting.com. They will repair it and ship it back by Fedex or UPS and most times their prices will beat any quote you find including shipping.

Compac d-530 won't start red light under power button flashing

Take out the battery and only hook up the AC Adapter. Try turning on your laptop and if you still only get a flashing power button then try another AC Adapter. If the same thing happens then that means the motherboard is bad and would need to be replaced.

Can you tell if the flashing is a pattern. count the flashes ( long and short) in a cycle. This will provide an error code to hopefully discover the problem.
You may also try removing and reseating the RAM and Video card, blowing out the connectors with compressed air before reseating.. Also look closely at the components on MB for any signs of swelling, leaking, burning etc. I suspect the MB.

Power button if flashing orange and nothing else works

It's likely that your power supply has started to go out. There are several different leads with varying voltages & amps. If your computer is getting enough power to make a light flash yellow or orange then this often means that there is something wrong with one or more of the voltages from the power supply. Sometimes it means that something is wrong with your motherboard. Like: burned out capacitors, resistors, & etc.

Aspire 1640, when i press power button, battery light flashes a few times and then nothing

that means it's not powering up... Take out the battery...hold power button for about 60secs and start the laptop with the adapter...if laptop powers up this will clear one thing...it's the battery if not then might be your adapter...check the voltage...try plugging in another adapter. Check the battery if it's working with any other laptop. Try lightening the laptop remove any external attachments[printers, scanners, pen drives etc.] All this you can try on your own and other than this leads to internal problems.Call any authorized personal from the company.
