On those yamaha engins it is usely the stator thats the problem.

The carbs need to be cleaned.There is a high speed jet in the carb that is more than likely stopped up. Jim OMC retired mech.

If it is flooding then you need to remove the carbs and check your float level and see if your needle and seat are worn out. If you hold your carb upside down with the bowl off then your float should be level straight accross. If it is not straight accross then you can bend the tang by the needle until it is level.

have you left the choke open ? this mixes more fuel to the engine upon starting but will stall it if left open too long . check your fuel filter too it may be full of debris.
