SOURCE: Hard disk Promlem

if you can hear the clicking sound then there is nothing a normal person can do. unless you have a spare HDD open it and replce the platter. but it is very risky
if you need the data in it badly, take it to the nearest service centre of samsung. they will recover your data within 1 month. but you will have to pay for every MB they recover.

SOURCE: will pata hard drive work on dell inspiron 600m

Yes, the Dell inspiron 600m uses the EIDE/PATA interface so your new drive should work fine.

SOURCE: external hard drive not detected

Check your jumpers on the hard drive. DON'T leave it connected very long if the jumpers are not set for master / slave (furthest away/ closest to the IDE port on the computer or it can mess up the circuit boards on one or both drives! If you are using only one hard drive, set the jumper(s) for "cable select" (often abbreviated CS). If it still doesn't detect the drive, the drive may not have an "active" partition on it. You can solve that by booting to your OS installation CD -- assuming you have one!

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your motherboard to your hard drive make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty

hope this helps

Sir my problem is that my SATA hard disk not detected by system. Also when i detect the SATA/IDE hard disk system hang, and nothing happen. But that time keyboard not hang. My SATA ports work...

Each PATA device (disk-drive or CD/DVD) drive has some small jumpers.

For the two devices connected via the one ribbon-cable,
set the jumpers on one device to the MA(ster) setting,
and set the other device to the SL(ave) setting.

Or, set both devices on the one cable to the C(able)S(elect) setting.

When properly set, both devices will be quickly and properly detected.

Be sure that your BIOS SETUP has been configured to allow SATA devices,
i.e., not set to "disabled" mode.

Boot failuer and cmos error and not detect by bios

reseat your pata hard drive, take out the power cable on your system tower, press and hold the power button for more than 15 seconds and then take out the connections on the hard drive and put them back in and then using cmos setup to default values and now try to start your system and see if your hard drive is detected.
if not
swap the power connector with some other free power connector, and try if this also not work
swap your pata cable with another pata cable and if this also doesn't work
either your hard drive or your motherboard is bad.
