Question about Canon PowerShot SX110 IS Digital Camera
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

You would have got the Installation cd along with the camera you should install that first and then connect the camera to the pc and then browse the software to retrieve from the canera.

Hi I have exactly the same problem. I'm running Windows Vista Business as the OS and have installed the disk that came with the camera with no avail.
It keeps recognising it as a scanner, but I cannot open the pics. I've tried different cables as well. No use.

Definitely sounds like you have a bad CCD. There is good news for you though. Canon recognized this particular model's CCD as faulty, and it is under recall! This means they will repair or replace your camera free of charge.
From Canon website: "U.S. residents are kindly directed to contact the Canon Customer Support Center for further assistance at 1-800-828-4040. Support hours are Monday thru Friday - 8:00 AM to 12:00 midnight; and Saturday 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM (all times EST). Alternatively, if electronic support is preferred, please send your email to firstname.lastname@example.org"
Explain to them you have a Canon PowerShot A75 digital camera with a bad CCD and you were looking to get it serviced by them under the recall.
Good luck from darntoothysam.com

Try deleting a few hundred pics....I had about 3039...deleted about 200, and now the error went away, able to upload pics from the camera to computer.....possibly 3000 is the maximum number of pics the Camera Window software will allow ?
