Cannot download photos from my Canon Digital camera to computer

Hi, Thanks for that idea, but I do not have a card reader and use the older Packard Bell Tower PC and do not have a lap top. When I bought the camera I downloaded the CD that came with it, and have been happily transferring my pics onto the computer for 3 years. Last month I upgraded my Firewall security prog, as the computer was full of viruses, that the other system had not picked up. So, whilts the computer is working fine now, when I plug in the camera and the computer recognises it, I just get a pling/plong noise a usual but not the screen that says" Do you want to transfer new photos to the computer?" I have treid to relaod the CD again, but still the system wont work.Agh!!

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

SOURCE: My computer is not recognising my EOS 20D!

Hi I have exactly the same problem. I'm running Windows Vista Business as the OS and have installed the disk that came with the camera with no avail.

It keeps recognising it as a scanner, but I cannot open the pics. I've tried different cables as well. No use.

Definitely sounds like you have a bad CCD. There is good news for you though. Canon recognized this particular model's CCD as faulty, and it is under recall! This means they will repair or replace your camera free of charge.

From Canon website: "U.S. residents are kindly directed to contact the Canon Customer Support Center for further assistance at 1-800-828-4040. Support hours are Monday thru Friday - 8:00 AM to 12:00 midnight; and Saturday 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM (all times EST). Alternatively, if electronic support is preferred, please send your email to carecenter@cits.canon.com"

Explain to them you have a Canon PowerShot A75 digital camera with a bad CCD and you were looking to get it serviced by them under the recall.

Good luck from darntoothysam.com

SOURCE: Photo card locked and can not take pictures.

There should be a tiny slide switch on the side of the card. Merely slide this switch to the other "unlocked" position.

Where to plug in the cord in cononSD30 to copy photos to laptop

The Canon PowerShot SD30 uses a camera station to download and print photos. You will need the "interface cable" that came with your camera and camera station.
  • Attach the USB end of the cable to one of your computer's USB ports, and the other end to the Digital Terminal on the camera station base (see photo below);
  • On the camera, slide the camera mode switch to "Play", then place the camera in the camera station, and turn on the Power.
  • The two devices are now connected, ready for photo downloading.
All instructions are in the "Basic Camera User Guide". If you can't find your Canon SD30 manual, you can download a PDF version from the Canon website at:
http://gdlp01.c-wss.com/gds/5/0900011245/01/PSSD30CUGba-EN.pdf

Hope this helps.

Do what the pros do....use a card reader instead of the camera. When you plug it into the USB port, an icon will appear called "NO NAME". Double-click on it and the pics will open in "preview". From there, you can import them to a folder you create on your desktop or into iPhoto. d05ed6a.jpg

1. With the camera on and in playback mode, plug the cord from the camera into the Macbook. It should appear on the desktop as a drive, probably called "no name". If it doesn't, don't worry...the next solution always works and it's the one the pros use anyway. 2. Get a card reader and use it to download to a folder you create on your desktop. From there, you can import the pics to iPhoto.

Trouble with downloading photos

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries. The card reader doesn't care what camera took the pictures, so you can use it with any camera (assuming the card itself fits).

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Canon ZoomBrowser or any other photo cataloging program.
