Are you using a Win 7 DVD? If so there is a repair section and a Load drivers section if you haven't tried yet. Does you computer have a recovery partition? Have you tried to "Cold-Start" the laptop. Remove AC plug, remove battery, hold down on/off button for 10 sec. ,replace battery, plug in AC, push on/off button and repeatedly tap F-8 until you hear a beep or get a response. That's a good place to start.

Go here for the "chipset" or "intel AMT" drivers, what you could do is download all of them so you have a back up of drivers needed (working on the assumption you are using XP)

Download "DRIVER MAX" it will automaticlly find devices, and find the drivers for them, then you choose what to update. And best of all it's free.

During the boot up process you will see on the screen press delete to enter set up
Press either delete or f2 during the boot up process to enter BIOS scroll down to set user password you can change or remove your password from there
