SOURCE: Nikon D40 shutter speed problem

The D40 will not take great photos of an indoor event without blurring or noise. You need a fast lens and a high ISO using the popup flash or on camera flash would be ideal but some of these events you can not use flash. All these images I shot with a Nikon D40. http://www.facebook.com/home.php?src=fftb#/pages/Keller-TX/Raving-Design/78762448229?v=photos&ref=ts Learn to use the camera for ur events. My camera flash when on the shatter speed does not increase above 200

The fastest shutter speed with flash is 1/200 of a second. Due to the design of the shutter, the entire frame is not exposed at faster speeds. See the box "Shutter Speeds Available with the Built-in Flash" in the "Flash Mode" section of the manual (page 70 in my copy).

How to change the shutter speed on my nikon n65 film 35mm slr camera

In the manual and shutter-priority modes (set the dial to "M" or "S"), turn the command dial to change the shutter speed. In the aperture-priority mode (set the dial to "A"), turning the command dial changes the aperture and the camera will set the shutter speed appropriately.

If you need a manual, you may download a copy from here.

Nikon D3100 shutter "problem"?

Are your pictures properly exposed and are they sharp or are your pictures degraded? Is that 1/3-second you describe a delay between the time you push the shutter release and the time the picture is taken or somthing else? Check to make sure you're in the proper shutter release mode (slider switch to right of the mode dial). Also, your self-timer may be turned on. Your camera allows you to set a 2 or 10 second delay from the menus. If it is set to 2 seconds and turned on, it might seem like a 1/3-second delay. If that doesn't help, you camera is covered by Nikon's warranty. Contact Nikon Service at 1-800-NIKON-US (1-800-645-6687) 9AM-8PM EST, Monday to Friday.

How to adjest shutter speed of nikon p90

In the P, S, and M modes, turn the command dial on the back of the camera. In the A mode, turning the command dial changes the aperture and the camera will change the shutter speed to compensate.
In the point&shoot modes the camera will set the shutter speed on its own.

I have a Nikon D3100 and surprisingly the dial mode does not work properly. I mean when I turn it, at some modes, it shows the selected mode correctly on the display, but not for all

Hello mehran_vafae, is supposed to have put a DX lens.
The mode dial, select in what way is going to take a picture.
You can make combinations according to the mode set in the mode dial, with the Fn key / command dial, command dial / aperture A mode, command dial / shutter speed S mode, Full Auto / + / - compensation sw, etc. ..
Please carefully read the user manual supplied with your camera and if it fails take them to Nikon service.

How can i set aperture and shutter speed at P mode? i scroll the command dial but all that comes in is P and P*

Once you're in the P mode, turning the command dial will change the shutter speed and aperture in opposite directions to maintain the same exposure (within the limits of the camera and the lens). You should see the shutter speed in the viewfinder change.

If you want absolute control of the shutter speed, change to the S mode. The command dial will then allow you to control the shutter speed, and the camera will automatically change the aperture to compensate (again, within the limits of the lens).

Whenever I take photos in shutter priority mode, all the pictures seem to be UNDEREXPOSED not overexposed like most people say it is. It also says LO where the f-stop number should be. PLEASE HELP!

Your shutter speed is too fast. The correct exposure requires a lens aperture larger than physically possible on the lens. That's what the "LO" is telling you. Slow down the shutter speed until the "LO" goes away. Alternatively, increase the ISO sensitivity (or a combination of both).

Just because you can set the shutter speed to whatever you want doesn't mean you can get a properly exposed photo at that shutter speed. There may be too little light (as in your case) or too much light. You have to use a shutter speed appropriate for the subject and the light conditions.

How do I adjust the aperture on the Nikon D5000 DSLR camera?

It depends on the exposure mode.

In Program mode (P), turn the command dial and the camera will shift the exposure by changing both the aperture and the shutter speed.

In Aperture-priority mode (A), turn the command dial and the camera will adjust the shutter speed to suit.

In Manual mode (M), hold the aperture button and turn the command dial.

If you're using a lens with an aperture ring, turn it to its smallest aperture (largest f/number) and lock it.

How can I change the exposures, or f-stops on the Nikon N75 35mm camera?

That depends on the exposure mode. In the point&shoot modes the camera sets the exposure.

In P you can turn the command dial to change the exposure.

In S you turn the command dial to set the shutter speed, the camera changes the aperture to suit.

In A you turn the command dial to set the aperture, the camera changes the shutter speed to suit.

In M you turn the command dial to set the shutter speed, you hold down the aperture button and turn the command dial to set the aperture.

If you don't have a manual, get one from http://www.butkus.org/chinon/nikon.htm
