“F21” is a Long Drain error. If the drain time exceeds 8 minutes this error code will be displayed. In addition, a “SUDS” error may also be displayed. This may be an indication of a drain pump problem and/or clog in the drain line. You will need to check the following:

  1. First, attempt to unplug the washer for at LEAST 30 minutes to reset the Central Control Unit (CCU). Sometimes this is all that is required to correct momentary glitches with the unit. If the error code returns, proceed to step 2.
  2. Check the drain hose to make sure it is not kinked or clogged.
  3. Check the electrical connections to the pump and ensure the pump is running.
  4. Remove the drain pump filter and check for foreign objects and/or debris.
To check the drain pump, click on the following link for step-by-step instructions.

If the above procedures do not correct the problem, it is recommended by the manufacturer to replace the drain pump.

I hope this helps you. Let me know if you require additional assistance.

I have a Whirlpool front loading washing machine and when I try to do a load of laundry, it will wash, but then flashes an F21 error message....and stops......I have tried canceling the load and restarting...

The F-21 code is a blocked drain tube. Take off the front lower panel and locate the drain. Should be front right, Disconnect it and clean out the little trap that collects stuff. Put back together and should be fine. I always find stuff like coins and tissues wadded in there. It made for collecting foreign matter to keep the drain clear.

Hello Paula,
Do not know how many flashes but 1green/1red = 11 water pressure low.
2green/1red = 21 blocked filter or pump fault.
You would be best firstly checking the filter and make sure it is clean and pump turns.with water drained and filter out shine torch into filter put on spin/drain and see if pump blade spins if not then try and turn with long screwdriver to free out any debris then refit filter and check for leaks and try donnt fill fully until you are happy it can drain water.
Hope I was of some help.

Good Luck

Load stops and flashes F-21

F-21 is a code that indicates "long drain".Check the drain line for kinks or obstructions. Check the pump. Check eletrical connections at the pump. Remove the hoses from the pump and use a flashlight to look into the suction port. Look for anything clogging the pump (like the occasional stray sock) and check the pump impeller. Make sure there are no broken/missing blades and that the impeller will spin freely. If any blades are broken/missing or if you cannot get the impeller to spin freely, the pump is defective. Hopefully it's just a clogged pump, drain line, or a jammed impeller. Hope this helped and best wishes.

Error code F 21? washer stops

Hi

The error code F21 means LONG DRAIN
If the drain time exceeds 8 minutes the water valves turn off.

NOTES: After 4 minutes the “Sd” error will be displayed, and then 4 minutes later the “F/21” error code will be displayed. Press PAUSE/CANCEL two times to clear the display.

Possible Causes/Procedure

1. Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked.
2. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
3. Check the electrical connections at the pump and make sure the pump is running.
4. Check the drain pump filter for foreign objects.
5. Plug in washer or reconnect power.
6. If the above does not correct the problem, go to step 7.
7. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
8. Replace the pump.

Please do rate the solution as FixYa and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

My Washer flashes F 21

Your filter is probably clogged. Unplug the washer and remove the lower front panel (three hex screws). You may need to tip the washer back to do this - be sure to have someone hold the washer while you work. The filter is about 3 inches in diameter and unscrews from an assembly just to the left of the pump, which is on the right side of the washer. It is hard to turn, but with a little muscle it will unscrew. Be prepared for water to gush out. It can be a lot or a little depending on how much water is left in the tub. Once unscrewed, clean out all the junk that has accumulated in it. Make sure the the pump rotated freely and doesn't have any obstructions. Then screw the filter back in and put the panel back on. Assuming you found a lot of junk inthe filter, this should solve your problem. Good luck.
