Hi, i have just installed my Skype and have bought a Logitech Webcam, have done the Skype check etc but I cannot get audio when I am on a video call? We can see each other and I can hear the othe rperson...

Hi Bronwyn,

What you need to do is to open Skype and go into the Preferences or Options and select Audio. There is a drop down menu to select what audio (microphone) you want to use. There should be a selection there for the Logitech webcam. (Most webcams have a mic in them.)

The other option would be to get an external microphone and connect it to the proper connector on the front or back of your computer and select it from the menu.

Thanks for using Fixya.

How to chat using webcam

Hi, 1)log in using your account name and password. You'll need to create an account if you haven't done so already2)Click the 'Messenger' followed by the 'Start My Webcam' option. This will load your webcam, and is among the ways you can get your webcam to begin broadcasting.
3)
Click on the camera icon that appears in a chat window while you are talking to a friend.
4)
Click on a contact from your Contact List, then click 'Invite to View My Webcam.' This opens a new IM window with your webcam active
5)
Click the 'View Webcam' link while talking to others in IM. This will allow you to see their webcams.
6)
Use the 'Super Webcam' mode when you want to send and receive high-quality images and feeds. Broadband makes it possible to see one another in very high resolution, although even with high-end broadband your computer may slow down a bit because of the amount of memory and processing power this requires. 7)Click 'Webcam' followed by the 'Who's Watching Me' button to see which of your friends is receiving your webcam's feed.

Can't get webcam to work on messenger, it used to work, I must be doing something wrong do h I have to download a program

Reinstall you webcam drivers doing the following:

Unplug your webcam from your computer.
  1. Reboot your computer.
  2. Insert your webcam's manufacturer installation CD into the CD-ROM drive and follow the installation prompts.
Note: If the setup program doesn't start automatically within a few seconds, you need to manually start the installation process.
To manually start the installation process:
  1. Click Start from the taskbar in the lower-left corner of your computer screen.
  2. Open the Run window and type d:\setup in the text area.
Note: The "d" indicates the path to your CD-ROM drive. If your CD-ROM drive is located in a different path, you need to replace the "d" with the correct path.
  3. If you've downloaded the most recent software driver from the webcam manufacturer's website, run that installation program now.
Note: Most webcam manufacturers maintain the latest webcam software drivers on the download or support areas of their website. Just download it and save it to your computer.
  4. Follow the instructions provided by the webcam setup program.
Note: Plug in your webcam USB cord only when prompted. (This is usually done after rebooting your computer.)

MY WEBCAM RE USED ON 'SKYPE' HAS WORKED PERFECT FOR A MONTH OR SO NOW WHEN I TRY TO CONTACT (re little green phone on skyp menu" or when others try to get me a message comes up and says; :problem with...

A sound card is a device inside a computer which regulates the input and output of audio to the computer. They can be a separate "card" or piece of hardware, or they can be integrated on your motherboard.

A problem with your sound card could be a multitude of things. The first step of solving the issue would be to verify that your sound card has the most recent drivers, or updates, for use. Find out what sound card you have by going to Control Panel, then Performance and Maintenance, and click on See basic information about your computer. A panel will open up, and click the tab at the top which says Hardware, and then click the Device Manager button. Scroll down to Sound, video, and game controllers, and double click that (or press the + next to it) to open up the drivers and codecs for sound and video. Anything relating to the sound or audio may be it. Then, search for the company of your sound card and find the appropriate drivers.
