Re: tv shows cloudy picture

What you said sounds like a focus problem. A focus proble is usually caused by a problem in the HV setion of the TV either in the IHVT or the HV transformer itself.

Only able to receive small pictures on certain channels broadcasting some older programs.adverts and most programs are ok,but selected few are not?

Most television advertising and broadcasts today are in 16:9 aspect ratio. This is why they seem alright. However, older TV shows will still show up in their native 4:3 ratio since they were recorded that way. You may be able to force them to 16:9 ratio, but although they will now be full screen, their images will be distorted in the horizontal plane. Most TVs are designed to auto-adjust to the 4:3 resolution to prevent this distortion.

The tv screen on my u-verse tv shows no signal

No signal issues are mostly resolve by checking the TV input settings.
You can follow the ff. steps:

1. Using the original TV remote control, look for a button labeled "tv / video", "input" or "source"
2. Select each of the available input until you get the Uverse picture or if you can check the type of cable that you are using to connect the TV and receiver, it'll help you to easily select the input settings. example HDMI cable

I hope this helps you and please don't forget to rate me.
Thank you. :)

Go into the Main Menu. From there go to System Setup (6) -> HDTV Setup (8). Make TV Type 1080i and Aspect Ratio 16x9 and select Done. Your picture should now be showing a HD picture.

No picture and the fan will not stop running,

Are you receiving no picture on TV1 or TV2?

If it is on TV1 you will want to verify your television is on channel 3 or 4. In some cases with the VIP receivers it may be 65 or 72 as well. I would also suggest going through the inputs on the receiver. Most tvs would list it as a "tv/video", "source", or "input". You'll also want to make sure all connections are tight and secure. At last resort you can try a hard reset by unplugging the receiver for 10 seconds.

It no picture is on TV2, you will want to confirm what channel the TV should be on by using TV1. On TV1 go to Menu then press 6-1-5 and change TV2 to the channel showing in "TV2 out".

With the fan running that is completely normal as the DVR function is always in use. It always has the capability to be paused and to use the rewind function so the fan is always cooling the hard drive.

Picture Freezing on Flat Screen TV

The symptoms you describe are indicative of a weak signal. If all your connections and cables are in good order, then you may need to either adjust your aerial or place a booster into the system.
If you have had no problems up until recently, it would suggest to me that something has changed to cause this. The normal problems are corroded connections at the aerial, or the aerial has rotated due to wind etc.
If you choose to put a booster into the aerial system, put it as near to the aerial as possible.
If you already have a booster in place, is it working?

Dish Network "No Signal" Message on Screen..Standby Mode

I saw your post and I'm wondering if you are still having problems getting a picture on your TV. Is it TV 1 or TV 2? What type TV is connected? If it's a HD TV, you will need to go through your input or source list on the TV to find your picture on TV 1. TV 2 is generally on either channel 60 or 73. I hope this helps.

My Sony tv CRT

If it's between 5-10 secs, that's normal. You will turn the tv on and hear a loud (buzz/hum) that is the picture tube firing up, once it's fired up, it has a few more seconds until your picture comes up fully. That is about 5-10 secs from pushing the power button.

If it's taking longer than that, your picture tube may be going out.

I had a 36XBR250 and it took about 10 secs to fire up and show a picture, and it was 5 1/2 years old.
