Question about GE 25GT511 25" TV

1 Answer

Missing speaker? I recently got this TV and noticed it had sound only coming from the right speaker. I then took it apart to find only one speaker, although there are places for two. Is this supposed to have one or two? If two, where can I get one (with the wires) for cheap?

Re: Missing speaker?

You have a TV with mono sound, and those sets only have one speaker. The same cabinet is used for the sets with stereo sound, which is why there are spaces for both speakers. Your set does not have a second audio amplifier to connect another speaker to.

I recently bough a used 40in sony trinitron xbr. i have the DVI to HDMI cable but wether its my laptop or xbox the sound wont come through the tv at all. any suggestions?

Check the audio cable it might not been connected securely.

Could also be missing.

Even with the HDMI you may still needs it ( DVI is for video only).

DVI means Digital Video Interface.

Sound only works at high volume

What happens in a lot of these sets is the speakers are tiny--they get used long enough at fairly high volume and the paper in the speakers can tear or even come apart---if able a look inside at the speaker/s would show if this is the case.

My Aiwa Colour TV, model No. TV-A2019, has developed audio problems. 1. The audio output from the speaker is high even when volume is set at level one. Audio output is constant for volume level 1 to...

You just come aroung the sound decoder section of your tv. Decoder problems may cause the fult you pointed out. Since all the controls are electronically controlled, and all are through sound decoder, which converts sound to stereo the problem must be there. Since sound comes from two channels are ok, there is no problem around sound output. Check for some soldering loose contact, wire socket loose cotanct also.

No sound from right speaker?

I have had this problem myself over the years with Sony sets. There will be a plug with wires that go to the speaker that is affected. It will be dry solder joints on the board where the speaker plug goes to. They need to be re-soldered and do this with BOTH speaker plugs as a precaution.

Also check the connections on the speakers themselves. Always remember if the sound is OK through headphones then it is something simple.

Hope this has helped you (:-)

Blurry edges

I own the same model of tv and have owned it for over 1.5 years. I moved with it twice. I had this problem about a month ago. On both vertical sides the screen became very fuzzy, yet the center remained clear. When turning the tv off and on I also noticed very wierd red, green, and blue lines streaming across the screen before the picture comes up or after it fades. I found no solution or cause to the problem. But I had two "long-boy" speakers from my panisonic 5.1 surround sound system setup right next the tv on either side. I set the center channel on top of the tv with the receiver on the shelf below. I thought well maybe some how the speakers were cause some sort problem in the tv. I moved the side "long-boy" speakers from directly next to the tv to about 6" away and removed the center speaker from the top of the tv. After several days of normal use of this configuration, the tv turned like normal and the fuzzy edges were gone. The symptoms lasted for around two weeks, and the several days after I moved my speakers. My only guess is that without a deguassing feature, it took several days for the magnitism to return to normal after repositioning my speakers.

No Audio

Most likely it pulled hard enough to cause some bad solder connections on the botton of the 4 pin...try to unsolder and resolder the connector and reconnect the speakers this should fix you up.

One speaker has stopped working

It could be the cable connecting to the speaker, or the speaker itself. Try taking the cable that's connected to the left speaker and connecting it to the right speaker. If it works, the cable connected to your right speaker is defective, if it doesn't work - your speaker is.

Repetitive dull thumping noise

You're in the UK, right? Try unplugging the set from the mains and let it sit for ten to fifteen minutes. Are your speakers built in or detached? How long has this been happening? Have there been any changes recently that coinside with the problem? Are there any other audio/video devices connected to the set? If you have other devices, does the problem exist when they're in use? The clicking noise sounds like a relay that's searching for another device or input. Check the audio settings on the menu to see if something has changed. Hope this helps.
