Question about Philips DVP642 DVD Player

1 Answer

Disc Loader got jammed.

2 discs were put on ( a single loader) by error. 2nd disc played but we could not remove discs without moving the holder out of sinc. Now the disc holder is out of alignment with the machine & is locked into a ready position but is stuck. Anyone understand what I am trying to explain? How can I realign this or should I just buy another one. The DVD is a DVP542/37 & is like new. Thanks for any advice!

Thanks for reply re removing cover. Trouble is the discs are already removed but in the process of removing the 2 stuck discs the holder got jammed and no longer will move into the DVD. It is now sticking out of machine (discs fits fine on it) but is out of position to freely enter DVD. What now?

Remove the top cover.  You will see where the disc are, take care in removing the stabilizer housing, you should be able to get the dvds out and put it back together.

Can you manually release a DVD from the Panasonic S32? The DVD player 'died' - with a CD inside. The instructions are silent on a manual solution.

Hi there,

Well you can please follow the below steps -
1. Unplug the DVD player and take the outer casing of the DVD player off. This entails either taking out two or three screws or simply sliding one of the pieces of plastic in either direction.
2. Locate the disc loader cover. The disc loader cover is located where the extending DVD tray finally comes to rest within the DVD player. It's the part that holds the DVD loader in place.
3. Bend the two tabs outward that hold the loader in place. This is a delicate procedure because you don't want to hurt the device. The tabs are relatively easy to break since they're plastic in most cases.
4. Slide the disc tray out. If your disc got stuck before it was read, it's probably still on this tray. If so, your problem is solved. However, if the disc was fully set and loaded, the job isn't quite finished yet.
5. Move the small mechanical arm that holds the disc in place over so that the disc and the reader are both exposed. Some DVD players will not have anything holding the disc in place. Instead, these devices use a system not unlike that of a common DVD case. The DVD will be locked in place in the center.
6. Carefully lift the disc up and out of its loaded position in the DVD player. This may entail sliding the disc reading mechanism over slightly. This won't hurt the device as long as you're careful. You should be able to access and remove the disc.

Good Luck!!

Dr787t won't play disc. Player won't recognize

You can try to stop this by dis-assembling the unit to gain access to the laser and you can clean the laser using a cotton bud or cue tip, if that doesnt solve the issue, what you can do is with the case off, put in a dvd and see if it spins, and also note if the laser is lighting up, if it isnt lighting up or if the disc isnt spinning you may need to replace the dvd loader of the unit.
If the laser doesnt light up and the disc doesnt spin its possible you may need to replace the MPEG Printed Circuit Board which you will fing attatched to to the dvd loader via small ribbon cables, be carefull when removing these if you need to remove them or a seriens of small plugs. I hope this helps. Good Luck.

Dvd is stuck

Before you remove the DVD player cover, try turning the device off and then back on to see if the disc will come out after the machine has rebooted.
  • Use the opportunity while you have the outer casing off to clean the lens of your DVD player.
  • Never work on an electrical device that's still plugged in.
  • Opening a DVD player may negate the warranty. Read yours carefully before you proceed.

  • Follow these steps to remove it
Step 1 Unplug the DVD player and take the outer casing of the DVD player off. This entails either taking out two or three screws or simply sliding one of the pieces of plastic in either direction.
  • Step 2 Locate the disc loader cover. The disc loader cover is located where the extending DVD tray finally comes to rest within the DVD player. It’s the part that holds the DVD loader in place.
  • Step 3 Bend the two tabs outward that hold the loader in place. This is a delicate procedure because you don’t want to hurt the device. The tabs are relatively easy to break since they're plastic in most cases.
  • Step 4 Slide the disc tray out. If your disc got stuck before it was read, it's probably still on this tray. If so, your problem is solved. However, if the disc was fully set and loaded, the job isn’t quite finished yet.
  • Step 5 Move the small mechanical arm that holds the disc in place over so that the disc and the reader are both exposed. Some DVD players will not have anything holding the disc in place. Instead, these devices use a system not unlike that of a common DVD case. The DVD will be locked in place in the center.
  • Step 6 Carefully lift the disc up and out of its loaded position in the DVD player. This may entail sliding the disc reading mechanism over slightly. This won't hurt the device as long as you’re careful. You should be able to access and remove the disc.

Sony DVP CX860 300 disc just keeps rotating the carousel

I just got one of these and i notice mine does the same thing. WHat i found that helped mine is tip the unit back a little. The loader uses a little but of gravity to get the disks to roll back into the loader. If its level the wheel sometimes cant spin the disk up into the loader fully. If its tipping back a little the disk will roll back easy into the loader and load it properly.

Also, dont forget if your playing a disk and you want to stop the unit, DONT POWER IT OFF AT THE UNIT. Power the unit off by the remote power this way it will finish its cycle and put the disk back into the proper slot.

Rio HT2030 disc loader will not open

I have had the same problem. There is a rubber ban that acts as a drive belt to open and close the disc loader. i took the cover off and then the disc loader cover off to expose the bubber ban. Then i replaced it using two rubber bans from my daughter's braces and reassembled. Works great again.

Try this. This works on some brands and models.

Power up the unit. Using the remote, press and hold the 'STOP' button for about 5 seconds. Release and press the 'OK' button.
