Mine seems to go off when a loud sound occurs. Almost like the system is going into protect mode.

Same problem; the system goes into the standby mode just a few seconds after turning on (almost like a power overload) and repeats no matter which source is used and even with the sub-woofer unpluggd from the unit.

Probably have a bad center unit to subwoofer cable. Sometimes the pins inside the cable bend or break. I paid 33.00 for a new one on the JVC website.

SOURCE: muffled voice track on JVC TH-C5

It's an audio setting you will need to change. some movies are decoded in dolby and some by dts. This means you will have to adjust accordingly depending upon the source of audio in the movie. a double d is dolby's trademark and dts is regesterted trademark for the company "digital theater sound." The icons are on the dvd usually. Anyways, find the set up button on the remote control and use the directional arrow keys on the remote; up, down, left, or right to adjust for best sound. the thc5 will have the most function on the surround settings, movie, music, and all st. try a sequence, than repeat until desired sound is heard... good luck

SOURCE: JVC TH-C5 DVD plpayer....no color when playing DVD's, but color

You might have the connections wrong. If there is component in on you tv(red, green, blue) then use the for the best picture. Other wise use the yellow composite video out to the yellow video in on your tv

SOURCE: I have a TH-C5 JVC receiver that is dead.

Its all going to be proprietary to the jvc system. Unfortunatly you will only be able to use the speakers with another reciever.

SOURCE: Problem with surround sound on JVC Th-C5 sound system

Not sure how you're hooked up or what model TV you're using. If you mean the TV sound through RCA cables is the source and you're wondering why it's not surround. Well, it's not multichannel. Please fill in some details.

Here's a manual.

http://www.retrevo.com/support/JVC-TH-M505J-Home-Theater-Systems-manual/id/318dj491/t/2/

That cable not only carries audio but it also powers the sub and other channel amplifers. Even if we could supply the pin-outs for the channels I'm not sure what we could do to provide subwoofer power. We're talking about a major rework.

This is a highly proprietary design, meaning it's really not very adaptable to normal spec audio equipment.

There's a flat-fee repair service for the receiver ($99.95, free return shipping):

Maybe they could fix your receiver.

You COULD try to reach the manufacturer for other options.

My JVC TH-C5 System subwoofer has power problem. when i plug it, the power light is not showing. electrician checked the power panel but can't find a solution. please if u can help, reply! thanks. waiting...

Did ur techman checked the fuse?
Normally, that is the one first to be BUSTED before everything else?
If there are no POWER at all the POWER IC is the culprit, and check the DiODES!
Tell me more!
