Linksys Router i just bought a wireless linksys router so i can play xbox live. i followed all of the steps but i could not configure it. I then realized that my Arris modem is USB but it has an ethernet spot on the back. I have been trying many things to try to make my internet on my computer work and my xbox live at the same time, but either 1 or the other works, not both. Can you please help me.

You may need to restart after switching cables. Did you try this?

The only computer I have is a Dell Insprion E1505 laptop and it is connected to a "COMCAST" cable modem. Windows XP, not Vista is installed. I purchased a LINKSYS WRT54G wireless router. I installed the setup disk and connected the modem to the router, and the router to the computer as step one, but when step two had me disconnect the router from the laptop so it could connect via wireless network, it just says "easylink advisor could not establish a wireless connection with the router
two laptops, a desktop PC and my son has Xbox live. I recently bought the Linksys wireless-g router with speed boost and that didn't work. If any of the laptops were on, the other wouldn't work and my son's Xbox live would lag. I was thinking about exchanging it for the Linsys wireless-N broadband router but then I read the reviews and they were horrible. I need something of that sort but something that isn't known for being unreliable and dying.
I bought the Turtle Beach X41 Headset, and it is causing some problems with my wireless connection. Due to a number of reasons, it is not possible to directly hook up my 360 to my modem. So, if I bought a new router that can operate on a 802.11a frequency, would that help or not? My current router is a Linksys Wireless G, 2.4GHz, router. Microsoft has said that an 802.11a frequency router could fix problems with other wireless electronics. If it would help, which router should I buy? I've read a few reviews for the Linksys WGA54AG 802.11a, and everyone says it doesn't work good. Any suggestions on another brand
i tink with these you can do some thing

How to connect to xbox live with linksys router

Just to confirm you are using a wireless connection to hook up to the router? do you have the router model number? Have you configured the correct wireless settings on the 360? Make sure that if you have a key that you have entered it correctly. http://support.xbox.com/support/en/us/xbox/xboxlive/getconnected/setupahomenetwork/stepbystep.aspx
also you can use the xbox support site for reference, use the left side panel to look at wireless settings and other help.
Thank you,

Please follow the steps below to setup your Xbox with your Linksys Router:
  1. With your Xbox powered down, take an Ethernet cable and plug it into a numbered port on the router, and plug the other end into the Xbox.
  2. After you have your Xbox connected to the router, start up the Xbox without a CD in the tray.
  3. After you start the unit, you should arrive at the “Xbox Dashboard”. Select the Xbox Live option and press the “a” button on the controller.
  4. After “Xbox Live” loads select the Network Setup and press the “a” button your controller.
  5. On the “IP Address” settings, you can choose “Automatic” or “Manual”, make sure it’s Automatic.
  6. Select the Connect option and press the “a” button on the controller.
After you use the “Connect” option, the Xbox will detect the network cable, and will ask you if you want to connect to Xbox Live.

Change NAT to open

You need to open all the ports for the xbox live. The NAT of that router model cannot be configured to open. Its just a simple NAT for internet connection.

Linksys router and modem problems

Hello,

Most cable company's will not allow you to use the USB and the ethernet connection at the same time. You will need to only use ethernet to your PC and your XBOX. Once you have the ethernet cord connected from your modem to the WAN/Internet port on your router you will need to press the reset button on the back of the arris to authorise the router for access. After that is done you will plug you XBOX into 1 of the 4 numbered ports on the router. Then you will need an additional ethernet cord for your PC.

Hope this helps

unless your computer has an ethernet card it is not going to work, so if your computer is usb then you will need to purchase an ethernet card for it.

I am using a linksys wireless g gaming router connected to my xbox 360 and I have a belkin n wireless router connected to my computer. I cannot connect to xbox live, any help

Does the n router have the B/G radios enabled? You have to have G communicate with G. Secondly, do you have the routers configured in such a way they can bridge? If you can't bridge them wirelessly or connect them physically they won't communicate. If this is off base there are also ports that need to be open for the XBOX to connect to XBOX live and this complicates testing, so test on a normal PC with web or ping first.

Xbox 360 wireless adapter connection

Try resetting your router and reconfiguring. Secondly try using a different wireless security mode that the 360 adapter supports. If the router is a linksys, that could be the problem. Linksys has a very common drop problem. I have found that D-Link has better integrity for wireless devices. Also try putting another device on the network via Wireless, if the same result, replace the router. Also, you can do a search on google for wireless router tweaks, to optimize the router for and xbox wireless connection. One more thing. be sure you force an ip address for the adapter in the settings area on the 360. That promises the same IP everytime it connects. Then go into your router configuration and forward the ports for xbox live, the wireless connection may not even be dropping, but a port problem with live while trying to authenticate your game system

The following ports must be available for Xbox Live to operate correctly:
• UDP 88
• UDP 3074
• TCP 3074
