Briggs & Stratton 12KW Model 040229 LPG Generator. 96 Volts @ the 120 Volts outlet, When I turn the house 2 Ton AC voltage increase to 106 Volts.


Can you manually adjust the voltage on the generator without load?? If you have 120/240 60hz output on it and you are not overloading the unit (amperage), then it may be as simple as adjusting whats called your gain setting for your voltage regulator. Obviously you are seeing what happens when it is set too low. Trying raising that setting until it becomes unstable then back it off. Unstable meaning voltage starts jumping all over.

The low volt power packs put out 12 volts AC, so polarity does not matter as far as the _operation_ of the lights. Polarity _is_ a safety concern only in higher voltages and AC systems that are grounded, such as 120 volts, but still doesn't affect the operation of equipment. Best wiring practice is to follow polarity, even on low volt equipment (
This is more noticeable in an ordinary table lamp. The identified wire (the one with ridges) is connected to the screw shell of the socket. That way people don't get shocked when screwing in a light bulb, thus, _not_ following polarity can present a 120 volt shock hazard just with a common table lamp. 120 volts AC kills more people in the USA than any other voltage simply because it is very common and quite often disrespected.

Yes, the old puncture sites need to be sealed. If you have UL listed low volt cable, it is designed to self-seal when the light is removed from the run. However, as the cable ages this self-sealing feature doesn't always function as intended, especially when cold. This is a possible reason why your cable shorted out and melted. Try reading the resistance on the coil itself. If your coil is damaged and has a high resistance the voltage will still read 120 volts, becuase there is no current. The voltage drop across the coil is equal to the resistance of the coil times the current. V = I * R. "I" being current. If the resistance of the coil is high because it is broken then the voltage will still read 120V. Another way is to read the current through the coil.

If it is a 1500W fryer then the current through the coil is about 12 amps. 1500/120= 12.5. To calculate the resistance of the coil you would you take the voltage divided by the current. 120/12.5 = 9.6 ohms.

Therefore the resistance of the coil should be very low. It will actually be lower when it is not hot. So your ohmeter should read somewhere between 5 and 15 ohms.

Look on the name plate. If it says under 'volts' 120/240 that means it's dual voltage and you can use either voltage to run.

the baseboard heaters out put goes down a lot more than you would think when used on 120 volts ... thats because not only is the voltage half of what it should be, the current is also half .. so the total power (the product of voltage and current) is one fourth of what it would be if operated on 240 volts .. you are operating at only 186 watts instead of the 750 watts you should have .. so you would have to have 4 times as many heaters for the same heat output .. you likely have the 240 volts available (most houses do) .. there are two phases .. each 120 volts .. when both phases are used together then you get the 240 volts total .. another option is you can use heaters designed for 120 volts .. the current would increase to a little more than 6 amps per heater .. some heaters have a jumper you can move for 120 volt service or 240 volt service... you can use those with either voltage ..

96 volts is low. 106 volts is low. You need to be about 110 to 120 volts optimum. How is your battery input? This is crucial for the inverter to output correctly. If it needs 24 volts DC in Then make sure it's 24 volts. 48 volts means 48 volts. Check the battery voltage and compare to inverter input requirements first.

1 hp= 750 watts
125 vac = 125 volts alternating current, wall outlets
5 amp= 5amps

125vac x 5amps= 625 watts

a timer is a switch with a clock on it. just like a switch in a lamp cord.

take a close look at the tubular element with a magnifying glass. the volts value should be stamped into the element. most baseboard heaters are 240 volt at low, high and medium density. wattage could be from 750 to 1500 watts
