SOURCE: Ice crusher don't work

Hi, It sounds like the selonoid that shifts the auger is not working. This part is located behind the panel that the bucket pushes against. The little wire arm on the bucket goes into this. Sometimes they just get froze up from the moister. If you remove the panel/section the selonoid is in, you can see if the part has went bad.
I hope this helps you. Please let me know If I can assist you further.

My ice dispenser just crushes ice no cubes

if you can hear the solenoid clunk when you press for cubes then possibly the disengagment arm isnt being moved by the solenoid ,then remove the ice bucket and check for ice build up that also can hold the ice crusher blades in place, rinse it out with warm water to melt any ice build-up,then wipe dry and put back into freezer without any ice so it can get cold again before ice gets into the bucket again and melt so you have the same problem again

I have a MZD2766GE that does not crush ice

There are several test that can be done to insure the lever that switches the cubed ice to crush ice in the Service Manual for your model Click Here=> MZD2766GE section 3-10 at bottom of page and in the scroll at top of page you will go to page 58 to begin. Once you have the manual saved to your computer and have questions you may ask as we both follow along. There is a solenoid that is supposed to raise and lower the crusher lever. Test by taking the ice bin out and pressing the door light switch it to insure the dispenser panel will activate. Then press the auger and crushed ice. The solenoid that I am referring to is part number Click Here=> 61005253 If for some reason the solenoid is bad, rusted or has no voltage the crusher lever will not activate. If need you may contact me here on Fixya or my Forum=> Appliance 911 My contact information is located above the Fixya Ad on my blog here=> Sea Breeze Appliance Parts and Technical Services,

Ge gss fridge,ice dispenser problem.

You have a solenoid switch which switches the dispenser back and forth from crushed to cube. The crush position is without the solenoid energized. It could be stuck or not working or the parts connecting it could be disconnected or broken. You will have to observe to see if any parts are moving and if any noise is coming from the solenoid

Your solenoid is part 45 and the linkage to the crusher is 46. The crusher is 41 on this diagram and parts list.

I have a kenmore elite model number 795. my ice dispencer only gives crushed ice even though its set to cube

1st i would remove all ice out of bin, clean outBIN with warm water under sink. put ice back in do not throw away for testing purposes. if worked then a cube may have been caught in bucket chopper improperly . if didnt change anything could be a bad crusher solenoid. in home service could run you 90-145 dollars depending where you live. if you do it yourself crusher dispenser solenoid will run about 30-50 DOLLARS. hope this helps

Ice maker only makes crushed ice, no cubes

The button which selects cubes versus crushed controls a solenoid which engages/disengages the crusher. If the mechanisms which crush and push the ice from the chute are all clean, free of ice, etc., then the solenoid is not working. It either has loose/dirty connections or the solelnoid is bad.

Ice crusher not crushing

Almost everytime I encounter this its the actuator on the solenoid sticking. Check this out, Pull the ice bucket out and you will see a rod on the lower back. This is what flips up and down to engage the crushing mechanism. Where this rod connects in the freezer is where this solenoid is. Try this, Open the freezer and with the ice bucket out hit the ice button, both for crushed and cubed ice while watching the solenoid. You should see it engage and move up and down along with an unmistakable thud. Some times all thats needed is to loosen the 2 mounting screws and realign the plunger. The normal resting place for the plunger is in the down position. I've also seen the plastic break on the plunger.
Theres also the possibility ice is jambed up, I've seen the bucket put in improperly, the solenoid itself could be bad, Or the control board tho unlikely. 95% of the time its a stuck solenoid. Hope this helps!

Ice comes always comes out crushed

The door that directs the ice cubes away from the crusher is not moving. You probably have a bad solenoid. It is easy to replace. After removing the ice drawer, take out the two phillips head screws that hold the back section in place. This section has a plastic shaft sticking out that powers the ice auger, plus the actuater for the cube/crushed door. Make sure you unlug the power at the wall by this point. Now unplug the nine pin electrical connector that connects this unit to the back plug in the freezer. Remove the whole assembly and you will see the light bulb, the auger motor and the bad solenoid assembly. The center core of the solenoid should slide up and down freely. I usually find them jammed. Order the part online, or from a local distributer. $20 or so. The correct part number is probably 241675801, but could be different. Check your specific model at Parts manuals can be accessed there.

Ice maker only produces crushed ice even though is says cubes

check the arm on the bottom of the ice bin going back to the back wall of the freezer if it is in that little stirup then the solenoid could be bad or frozen. the solenoid lifts that arm which opens the flap on the front of the bin which lets the ice fall out without going through the crusher. clear as mud?

Ice crusher has stopped crushing

There is a little bar that is on the ice bucket. That bar has to go into the middle of the plastic square that is on the back wall of the freezer. Try Pulling out the ice bucket, get a hair dryer and run the hair dryer on the back wall of the freezer right above the hole where that little bar goes. After you run the hair dryer for about 10 minutes or so put your finger in the hole and pull down on the plastic square. Make sure when you put the ice bucket back in the freezer, the bar goes inside the square hole, not under it, not over it. In it. If that doesn't fix the problem you probably just need a new solenoid. Part number 5304404333

Let me know how you make out. Good Luck
