Question about Acer Aspire 3680 Laptop
I've been trying to connect my laptop to the Samsung TV using a VGA cable (male to male). I think I've determined its something to do with the tv because the cable works when I plug it into my monitor on my personal computer. I cannot get the tv to register that anything is plugged into the PC slot. When i press source it is only recognising the DVD player and Sky box plugged in through scart. Any suggestions? I hook my Gateway GM5442 PC to my Vizio 32" LCD using a VGA cable. I get picture but no sound. I also have tried to connect a 3.5mm male-male between the two devices. I've tried a pair of RCA-RCA cables from my PC to stereo. All my device drivers seem up to date. My speakers (that came with the desktop). work but they also have a USB cord configured in the setup.
Any Clues? My acer laptop is connected to my tv. The background from my computer shows up on my 47" vizio but thats it. No icons, cursor, or anything. How do i get those to show up and able to use my computer screen to show up and able to see what i see on my computer to my tv?
VGA cable doesn't carry any audio: use your audio output from PC into TV audio Input (standard RCA).
You need to configure your Display Properties to manage TV screen to get an effective connection.
Either you have a generic Video Grafic Driver add on (I'm using Intel Graphic accelerator) on your display properties either you are using a specific (NVIDIA) driver for your video card.
To check go to CP/ Display, settings Tab and in advanced you should be able to check your choice (if you don't want to go to user manual.
You can also (in CP/ Display, Settings tab configure TV as a monitor and select your option accordingly: use screen resolution on screen # 2 not over native resolution of your VIZIO screen (1080 x 960?) and be sure to use all the parameters as TV can accept.
As soon as TV is configured as per resolution and refresh etc..
check the presentation function on your PC: it's normally a FN key showing a screen icon on key top (on my Acer travelmate is FN + F5) on aspire may be it's FN + F4.
This function key will circle between: PC mail screen -> External screen (as you configured on Display settings) -> both screen.
