Question about Maytag Washing Machines
Washer goes thru cycle but drains out the bottom instead of hose
There should be and access panel on the rear, lower left side of the washer. This is where the drain pump is. Remove this panel to see if the hose has come off the pump or if it is broken. Here is the new pump in case you need it.

Possible that you would have a tub seal leak if it is only noticable during spin cycle. Possible that it "drips" slightly while in agitation, but not enough to notice it. While in spin mode you have a lot more parts moving as well as a lot more water pressure on the seal itself. Pump could also be leaking, but highly doubtful since it would leak a constant amount at all times. Good Luck!!! Jim

I removed the drain hose from the bottom left rear corner of the washer & cleaned a large amount of gooey sludge from the bottom of the drain inside the washing machine.

Your pump is probably what's causing the noise . Usually the bearing starting to go out , causing the pump to freeze up , begins with this noise .

Testimonial: "Thought it might be a belt rather than the pump."
