Question about Audio Players & Recorders
If you are using an amplifier make sure that the DIN connectors are wired correctly. If you want to listen to and make recordings simultaneously keep your machine on "source"monitoring and the tape to tape switch to "source" If you want to listen off tape then use headphones and not your amplifier to tape monitor. When I started with three heads 40 years ago this bafelled me till I did this Hope this make sense but this is what I did , the DIN connector was bridged between play and record pins

You may be listening off tape and there is a lag of time between the record head and the play head which is what you may be concerned with. This is normal for any three head deck be it cassette or open reel.
Slowing the speed will lengthen the time of the delay and speeding it up will shorten it.

If you are not familiar with such work, I don't recommend trying to install belt(s). Replacing belts may involve disassembly of mechanism parts and critical adjustments to follow. Take to a pro/tech

No, that would require slowing the capstan or making its diameter smaller for the rpms it turns now. Sorry.
