F09 error on Maytag Bravos 10156733A Dryer

Just got my electric power back on following the hurricane. Turned on the Maytag Bravos dryer, the display lights up but when I press "start"... nothing happens. Reviewed the diagnostics section of the dryer's tech sheet which was taped to the back of the dryer... and after getting the dryer into the diagnostics mode... F09 displays. From what I've read in this forum, I'm guessing the problem is an electric surge which "fried" the primary control panel (aka machine control electronics). Sounds expensive! Can someone provide some input along with the part number(s) which might need replacing?

Update: The dryer is a Maytag Bravos MCT (Maytag Commercial Technology with steam) Model # MEDB850WQ0... the 10156733A number was on the dryer tech sheet which is probably just a generic tech sheet.

Checked the thermal fuse (Manufacturer Number 3390719) with an ohmeter... it has continuity (near zero ohms)!

Found the parts for my Model # MEDB850WQ0 dryer at:

Found this webpage when a Maytag Dryer (MEDB800VQ0) Won't Start... it lists 6 different parts (or items) to check including: 1) thermal fuse, 2) door switch, 3) drive belt, 4) thermal cut-out fuse kit, 5) incoming power problem and 6) main control board which can be viewed at: After ruling out the first 5 items following a visual inspection and ohmeter testing of the relevant parts, I ordered the Main Control Board (Part # W10111620) from Replaced the main control panel but the problem (eg. dryer won't start) still remains.

Placed the Maytag dryer back into the diagnostics mode using the newly installed main control panel I just purchased... and now I get a F06 error code which made me wonder if I was sent a defective board. Re-installed the old main control panel... placed the dryer back into the diagnostics mode and got the original F09 error code. Wondering if I now have two defective main control panels?

Installed yet another new Main Control Board... the dryer would not start so I placed it into diagnostics mode again. This time... H80 displays. Searched for that fault code... and found this at: Sounds like I might now need to replace the user interface! These new-fangled dryers with all these electronic bells and whistles sure don't seem to handle an electrical surge very well when compared to their more ancient counterparts without all those fancy electronics!

Yes, any of the new appliances with the electronic controls always take a hit with the power fluctuations. You should think about a whole house surge suppressor or at least for the appliances. Take a look at this website.

Reviewed the Tech Sheet (Part # W10156733A) taped to the back of the dryer and performed many of the diagnostics tests outlined with no success to report. Then performed "Resetting the Modifiers and Options to Factory Default" as outlined in the Tech Sheet (To return all options and modifiers to factory defaults, select the timed dry cycle, then press WRINKLE PREVENT, DAMP DRY SIGNAL and WRINKLE PREVENT, DAMP DRY SIGNAL within 5 seconds. When done correctly, the 7-segment display will show "Fd" and the buzzer will sound a tone for 3 seconds before returning to Standby Mode). This "resetting to factory deafults" along with a New Main Control Board did the trick... and the dryer is finally working again!

The only problem is going to be is the control board. I am not aware of the "error code F06" so this makes it even more likely that the control board is bad. I get all my parts thru AppliancePartsPros since they give a 365 day, any part, any reason return policy which is great. Here is the board to order.

As of yesterday, I have another new Main Control Board (Part # W10111620) on order which according to Sears will ship direct from the manufacturer to my home. Thanx Richard for chiming in!

SOURCE: Model MEDB850WQ0 Will not display time or start.

Please check this diagram ....if you have already tested part no 41(thermal fuse), part no 47(thermal cut off), part no 48(thermostat) and part no 51(thermister) and all of them have continuity then either wiring harness to the board is bad or the control board (part no 3 in this diagram) itself is bad. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

Maytag bravos electric dryer powers on but will not run no codes on it, just wont run

Check that door is fully closed. Or turn on dryer and manually press the door switch to see if that works. If not than it is that switch. A thermoswitch will also do that

The whole panel works but the time display is dark (no time numbers) if I hit time adjust I can put time on but dryer will sitll not start. I think there was an F73 or F93 error message but we did not...

I wonder if you may have accidentally activated diagnostic mode.
To get out of diagnostic mode press pause /cancel twice or unplug the machine.
I am thinking maybe the you saw an F-23 error which is: exhaust thermistor is open or shorted.

"AF" means "Air Flow". Your vents are cloged with lint. I have had to vaccum out my vents several times, both inside and out. It's been a bit of a pain.
