Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Controller

1 Answer

We have 2 xbox 360 controllers. The one works fine and we use it all the time. We recently got our first 2-player game. We went to turn on the second controller but it won't turn on. It has brand new batteries in it and it's not the battery pack. We tried it in the controller that works. When we try to turn it on, all four lights around the power button just continuously flash.

You have to first sync it with your xbox... there should a little white button on top of your controller, and a white button next to the memory card slots of your xbox.. hold both for 3 seconds to sync them

i had the same problem, and is a easy fix, turn on your console, dont need the controller on, and hold the sync button for approx 30 seconds, then turn the console off, take out the power lead from the console and then remove it from your mains, wait about 1-2 minuts then plug it up and switch on the console, first sync the xbox then the controller, and this should work, if it dosent try xbox support their number is on xbox.com

Try turning off the system and unplugging the control. Wait 30 seconds, reattach the control and turn on the system and test if it's working.

If not, you probably need a new controller.

Changing controller player 2 slot with XB360 wired controller

Alright, I've been playing around with it and i found a way.
You'll need to be pretty quick with it. The best way i found is to hit the xBox button, then quickly unplug the controller and plug it into another port.
(You will have to press the xBox button, it will give you a better chance at getting this, it'll tie up the driver for a split second)
This will get you over to player 2. If it doesnt work the first time, try it again a few times, switching ports each time.

Xbox controller

Try re-syncing the second (non-working) controller to the console. To do this turn both the controller and the 360 on, then find the little sync button on the 360 controller and hold it down until the lights flash in a clockwise circle. Now find the sync button on the 360 console and hold it down until the lights on the console spin in a clockwise fashion. Wait a couple seconds until the two sync up and then voila, you're good to go!

Here's pics of what the sync buttons look like:
