Question about Craftsman 42 in. Deck 19.5hp Lawn Tractor
Craftsman riding lawnmower has been sitting in my parent's garage for over 2 years. I was able to get the engine started, but engine will only run while clutch is depressed. If I let off of clutch, mower stalls - it doesn't matter if the mower is in neutral, reverse or forward gear.
I have a crafsman mower and it only cranks it wont start wat would be wrong

Check to see if all of the belts are in-tact. A belt may have become stressed and out of proportion from sitting for such a long time.

There may be a safety switch that has broken. I suspect the one on the seat (deadman switch). When you let off the clutch, the deadman switch under the seat may be stuck in the position that tell the mower no one is sitting in the seat and it kills the engine.
