SOURCE: Whenever I turn receiver on, it turns off almost immediately

The amplifier blew out (probably shorted and damaged when wire was loose, and gave out under load). It won't be cheap to repair....

Check the setting on the receiver. Sub on and front speakers need to be set to small.

How do you make the 6.1 channel work? Right now it just says digital. Does 6. 1 channel sound better?

6.1 stands for six speakers and one sub-woofer - a total of seven actual speakers giving you the surround sound effect. Before it can play a surround sound environment, the media - a CD or DVD must have it encoded on the disc, like a movie that has 6.1 surround sound recorded on it or a music CD with recorded surround sound. Otherwise, it will just play stereo audio - two speakers and the others are redundant. And yes, it does sound better as if you are in the actual area it was produced - like if you were there.

Subwoofer not working.... JVC surround sound system 778V Subwoofer Part Number SP-PW37-SUB I hear a hum coming from unit so there's power going to it. I hear weak bass thumps with volume turned all the way...

A connectivity check could provide the solution, notice any wrong wire connections on device or any other devices requiring interconnection. The woofer would perform properly when the connections that provide current for woofing are approapiate

important notes
1. Trace the connection from Recorder or sound output to the woofer device
2. The wiring connections should be sound and video ouput into sound and video output into woofer.
3. The connections if any problems would be located at the stereo recorder or device producing the spund and video. Check the connections of wires on the recorder device ensuring rewiriing
4. finally, adjust the equalisers if any the buttoms could have been disbled by master switch hindering full blaster boost sound.

I get no bass sound from sub-Woofer connected to Yamaha RX-V465

Check your speaker settings in Setup menu / Speaker Setup / Manual / Config (and then in this submenu also Equalizer).
In Config, choose where should low frequency sound go - subwoofer and/or front speakers (if they are big enough). The settings are: Bass Out: SWFR/Front/Both.
Also check Subwoofer phrase in SWFR Phase.
Check settings of all speakers, they can be Large / Small / None. If small, frequencies lower than "Crossover" settings, will not be put on them.

My JVC RX6000VBK does not get the signal from or to my subwoofer.

i had the same problem a few times, they are pretty picky receivers.
first take a look in your settings and make sure none of your speakers are set on large, if they are they automatically shut off the woofer,
2, try the adjust option and crank the bass and throw on the bass boost
3. manually turn the woofer on through the receiver itself
4. try and turn up the woofer itself if is powered
5. try hooking the woofer up to the secondary speaker jacks by bridging it, (positive on left and negative on right for even power)

if none of these options work then the woofer itself may be defective even though it lights up

no, u cant use the speakers with other normal DVD player because it wont have amplification for the speakers... u can use the sub to other dvd player because its inbuilt 120 watt woofer. ur dvd player is 5-disc player as wel as 120 X 2 and 80 X 3 watts amplifier (AV receiver ).... so just the JVC better sound thru the sub and speakers... unless there are some other connectors that may be used, i would think that the issue would be resolvable thru the system settings menu, there may be a speaker arrangement setting somewhere in the menus. The Sub is a .1 setting like 5.1 or 7.1, perhaps even 2.1 where the beginning number is the speaker channels and .1 is the sub. I would think with the sub being on a mono channel it woul/should work with any setting. If there is any more info you could supply I will further research this issue and try to help you get the sub working.

Go to the following website www.servicemanuals.net where you can get the service manual for $17.00, unbelieveable, don't you think? The service manual should help you sort out your hookup problems. Good luck.
