This was very dangerous, and yes this could have caused all sorts of problems to any appliance that was plugged in and switched on at the time, you should report the engineer to edf and it may be possible (if you can get an electrician to confirm that the faults you've had since were cause by reverse polarity) to make a claim for compensation against edf

it is a strange one. you do need an earth wire lead but the problem i'm seeing is that your mains maybe the wrong way round.. try another socket to plug into but im thinking the socket you are using is wired the wrong way round. camp sites are tested on a regular basis as they have a lot of use on there plugs so there sockets will be the right voltage and the right way round for the volts.

Need wiring diargram to reverse motor c218-314c, 220vac

If your electric motor is turning wrong, check the polarity on the battery with a voltage meter. Reversing the + positive connection with negative will cause the electric motor to turn in reverse direction.

The red collar came off my output wires, how do I figure out which is positive and negative?

In most cases, polarity reversal doesn't do any harm but speakers connected wrong will cause the bass notes to be cancelling instead of reinforcing each other.
If the speakers can be exposed, you can connect a 1.5 volt battery briefly to the speaker leads and watch whether a speaker deflects in or out.Just note which battery contact causes both channels to move in the same direction.

Coleman evcon wrong polarity or twinning error what does this code mean

It will probably means you have your hot and neutral wires crossed. The furnace has 120 volts coming in to it from your house. If the hot and neutral wire are wired to the furnace wrong, it will show this error. Take the electrical box loose where you can see the power cord coming in to the furnace. (turn off the circuit breaker to the furnace) Take the white and black wire loose , connect the black where the white wire was and the white where the black was. All you are doing is reversing polarity. I hope this works for you.

What happens if u connect the negative booster cable to the positive battery terminal or vice versa

If you reverse polarity, SERIOUS electrical malfunctions can occur although some vehicles do have reverse polarity protection. Do not rely on it to work, serious voltage spikes can occur causing failure of electrical gauges on dash, body control module and electrical control module failure and wiring harness shorts, causing very time consuming troubleshooting. The fuses will not always go first if it is a fast spike of energy

Not at all common but not unknown. Indeed this very same question was asked on Fixya By tom33834 on Dec 03, 2009 http://www.fixya.com/motorcycles/t3564846-yamaha_r1_07_battery_polarity_backwards
I do know of someone else that has also had exactly the same issue. In that particular case the original battery had be charged with reverse polarity when it had been charged for the very first time.
I would suggest you get a multimeter / DVM (Digital Volt Meter) and check the actual polarity of the battery - even though it is "flat" it should still have some residual voltage even if it is not the full 12 volts - with Red meter lead to Red battery lead (and black to black) check the display to see if the reading is "correct" eg 11.45 and NOT -11.45 (note the MINUS sign) If it IS correct (which is correct FOR THE BIKE) then that would be WRONG for the BATTERY markings and would definitely indicate a reverse polarity charged battery.
When you go to charge it keep it the same way round - charge as per the bike's polarity. HOWEVER if you ever buy a NEW BATTERY do not fit it as per the old one - you will almost certainly blow some fuses and maybe more.
On a further point, if I remember correctly, to fit the battery "the wrong way round" the -ve terminal is on the righthand side of the bike and to get the red +ve cable to reach the battery will be sitting in the upright position - that is the TOP of the battery is at the top. This is NOT how the battery should be fitted because if you turn it around as it should be (ie RED to +ve) then the battery lead is just not long enough and won't reach. When correctly fitted "the right way round" the battery is actually laying on its side with the top of the battery pointing towards the back of the bike.
If you know anyone else with an R1 perhaps you could have a look at theirs and compare it with yours.
Hope this helps

Has more power going in reverse then forward

Sounds like the motor polarity has been reversed. Have the motor wires been disconnected recently. If so they MAY have been refitted the wrong way round but this would be difficult as the plug that connects them should only fit together in one way so shouldnt be able to fit together the wrong way. Could also be main control box. I have seen this happen in the past! You need to see a dealer with a diagnostics machine. They should be able to correct the problem. Hope this helps...

Electric pre payment meter problems

deary me , my first instinct would be to contact a lawyer or the CAB, failing that this a link to the energy ombudsman paste this into your browser address bar
http://www.energy-ombudsman.org.uk/links/9-0-faqs.php

some meters do have a built in log that can be read by specialist equipment , if this is possible it will show them how much electricty youve used since your entry date ( get copys of your rental agreements for dares etc ), usually a fee is payable if your found at fault ,

i hope this helps , if it does please vote
