As Suzaku explained:
A battery icon will show up on the LCD screen of your camera when it is already low and needs recharging. It can be found at the lower right side of your LCD screen. The ready light of your camera will also blink red and your camera will turn off if the battery is exhausted.
NOTE:
The icon will not appear if the batery is sufficient and there is no TECH way of making the icon show until the batt needs charging.

If your Kodak power unit is a snap in plug with two holes on one end which fit into the power plug, this must snap in firmly, you cannot just slide one into the other without hearing it snap, this makes complete contact for the unit. If it is not tightly snapped into together your camera will not to charge because there is no real connection.

First, turn your M673 Kodak camera off.
Second, make sure your power plug is snapped in tightly to its plug unit. These are two attachments that snap together tightly as the charger unit.
Third, attach your USB end into the charger attachment box.
Fourth, plug the small end cord into the camera, always with the hole facing toward the LCD picture viewer side.
Fifth, plug the power source into the wall.
Do not turn the camera on at all.
A small green light will come on with the camera off now, that is the battery charger light.
When the green light goes off the battery is fully charged.
This charging process will take about 4 hours. (Less than some rechargeable battery units.)

This is the downside to this way of charging. read the PDF for more info, on other alternatives for battery and chargers for M763 camera

Here are the steps:
1. Make sure you will install a new or fully charged battery/batteries into your camera.
2. Clean the battery contacts.
a. Remove the battery/batteries and the memory card from your camera, then wipe the battery contacts with a soft, clean cloth.
b. Reinstall the battery/batteries into your camera
3. Without the memory card, turn on your camera.
4. Pls test with an alt. batt.
If you do not have access to a dif. battery.
Pls. take the batt out of the camera. Insert the charger into the unit from the main socket and turn the camera on. If the camera works you will need to replace the batt. If not you will need to order a No power repair or new cable.

I went ahead and looked this up for you. Kodak says you need a Li-Ion Rechargeable Digital Camera Battery KLIC-7001.

You had the right idea, but the wrong number. Hope this helps.
